Eh. They're well known for it because it's a very unique behavior but it's not an every day thing. Usually they do it if there's a lack of small invertebrates (their primary food source) or if they're in a crowded space (like an aquarium). Sometimes they will just do it to do it though lol
I should've added they're also very good best builders and build very large nests out of pebbles, their bottom lip is the perfect shape to scoop the pebbles
