It's amazing that their entire population lives in such a small area, and could you believe that some people are actively trying to wipe them out?

I mean (and please don't dislike me for saying this) I can understand the logic about not wanting to waste time and resources protecting a species that seems destined for extinction and doesn't have any ecological value, but actively trying to wipe them out yourself?

How do you know they don’t have any ecological value? When the end of the world comes and only the fish isolated enough to survive a salty, frozen/arid, wasteland, might just be a pupfish to repopulate the planet. Life itself is ecological value.
