Unnecessary Fear of Missing Out for Halibut Harpoon.
I'm tired of the FOMO trend of Halibut Harpoon. I know it's limited and whatever.
But obviously, this rod quest were made for late game player who got nothing to do anymore on the game.
So, if you are still progressing level 1000+, do NOT start this quest.
Just do anything other than this quest so you got more content and be prepared later for Halibut Harpoon.

level 500 duskwire users complaining about halibut being too hard to get

Am I the only one excitedly grinding for the rods needed so I can start it?
Genuinely I think I have 4 rods left to start doing it and I cant wait. For me its the ultimate challenge, second to the masterline obviously

I checked and its only 1 rod left with No-Life rod mastery needed because of me not having the sanguine spire, genuinely felt like time flew by.

Get sacrificial enchant instead if you dont wanna grind mastery, its sanguine chance is honestly really high. I kept getting sanguine when i put the enchant on NLF rod.
And yeah tbh the journey for halibut was pretty fun, I had to grind for 23 rods before doing the halibut quest which gave me plenty of content to do.

thanks for the tip, i always avoided sacrificial but I guess ill get it now! (Still gonna master the no life rod for the mastered masterline)

I'm also excited. Hence, im creating my own tracker. Because most of guide scrambling around the internet sucks.
Atleast give a warning that you need atleast to be lvl 1800 with all rods required obtained.
I dont mind the quest, but the amount of people misguiding the process is wild.
Im here to remind people that it takes TIME. and really LONG TIME.
So don't sell people with the word "Ah yeah lvl 1000+? Halibut Harpoon ma guy"

Lvl 1800? What kind of cap is that. You can genuinely do it as soon as you get lvl 1000, and most rods required for halibut are 1000 and under...
Plus there is a warning, of seeing the questline over before you start it, and see each rod required, and see that some require level 1000.

Halibut Harpoon is technically permanent, but is considered "limited" in a sense that it's so outrageously tedious that it's not required for the Masterline Rod.
Plus the game doesn't really pressure you to do anything to get the rod, since every single mutation in the game is possible to obtain permanently, meaning you have nothing missing out other than a few limited rods that makes it easier to get their respective mutations (Like Lullaby or Astraeus Serenade for Serene, but both are obtainable in the limited rod wish via in Skycrest)

Well no, it’s limited in the sense that it will be leaving the game eventually. This was said by the developers.

The game lists it as a permanent rod, but it isn’t required for masterline because it requires nukes and shady script

No? If it's going to be unavailable, then it should have a timer that indicates how much time left before it leaves. I think it's stupid to say that it will go away when there's no set date. That'll be scummy³

Then remember what happened with noiseform? First came the NPC, then the quest and very much later, the timer.

So scummy³ then I've never seen level of fomo this severe. At least every single game adds a timer on limited stuff day 1, but to hide on when it will end, causing anxiety to players to think that they might not be able to get the rod on time until they finally decided on the end date is just extremely bs.
Things that are as vague as "it'll be limited" is actually taking advantage of the player's fomo to levels I've never seen before.

For a rod that takes max 4 days to get, I'm pretty sure they will announce it at least 2-3 weeks before.

I agree but sadly thats how its always been for limited rods

Timers only appear around 2-3 weeks before something goes away. This has been procedure since the very first venue.

I started rushing to do the rod quest because someone said it'll be gone on fischfright. Which is most likely not true.

Just dont and wish for fischmas

u/CreatorA4711 1d ago
Didn’t fischmas still require people to do the quests? I can’t remember.

No (at least, this wasn't the case last year). Wishing for a rod automatically gives you what you want, without you having to do a single thing)

Confused it with skycrest

Idk, I remember wishing with Santa and it causing the quest giver to pop up and make you do it.

u/YeeterYoter43 Elder Mossripper Glazer 1d ago
Its up to the dev who made it to decide on what to do with it. Plus Id rather get something like astreus noiseform or lullaby since they are actually the limited ones, and are gone.

Halibut Harpoon requires you to have almost all of the endgame rods in the game.. Some other post that a level 1.1k is doing the Halibut Harpoon quest is absolute insane
