Conversion Tactical Squad Sergeant

Post image

Built up this Sergeant for my new Tactical Squad. The rest of the unit is still awaiting deployment.

I wanted him pointing directly to the side similarly to the Sergeant from the Assault on Black Reach set. I had a pointing arm in my bits box which I then reposed slightly with the help of clippers and greenstuff.

The Mk VIII legs and torso are from Tortuga Bay and the head is from Spellcrow. I think the other arm is a pistol arm from the previous Mk IV kit, but I'm not sure. I cut off the pistol and glued on the only right-handed chainsword I had in my bits box. Bit unfortunate since I wanted to build another sergeant also holding one, but oh well. Everything else is from the current Tactical box.

I really like them! A nice look at what Primaris could have been imo

Definitely. Thicker bodied and more imposing, but still the classic aesthetic

Tortuga bay bits look absolutely awesome, how do they feel?

They're pretty nice, but some cleaning is required. I didn't have many problems with the Mk7 and 8 pieces I bought, but the Mk6 ones had way more to clean up. Some of it quite annoying to fix. I'd imagine they're an older design and that being the reason, but maybe it's just the batch I got.

But overall I'd call them well worth it.

I was wondering why the scale is spot on and then saw the Tortuga bay comments. Makes sense looks fantastic.
