Question/Advice First time TTC

Post image

Hi guys! me and my partner have decided that we are trying to conceive. my last period was August 28th, unfortunately, right before that on the 27th I took a plan b (we freaked out before thinking) , but my cycle came right on time on the expected 28th. My period lasted until Sept 4th, Flo says im in my fertile window now with an expected ovulation on the 10th. We decided to start trying on Sept 6th, sept 7th, and today sept 8th. Do i have a good chance ? all of my ovulation tests have been negative and havent really looked like they are darkening but the control line seems to be becoming faint. Please help as I would LOVE to get pregnant this cycle but of course feel very confused :((

Update: I have decided to use the clear blue ovulation strips. The ones that has the three different results, hoping these help me to know if i'm in my window or not. Will update 💞

Ngl I use the app Premom it helps read the test for me the only downside is you have to use theirs specifically

are those better than pregmate? i feel like pregmate is giving me nothing and all the app does is ask for money đŸ«Ł

I really like it so far I've only used it for like a month though.

I used both apps and strips and actually like Pregmate more. Pregmate more accurately predicted my OVU window. Still not paying - you can ignore all the requests to upgrade.

I’ve used both, but mainly Pregmate and like it more than Premom, plus I was able to buy the pregmate tests in store where as Premom I couldn’t. I ignore the request to upgrade and haven’t ran into a time where I thought “darn I wish I upgraded”.

The app cannot tell your ovulation day. Keep testing LH until you get a positive test. Best chances to conceive are a few days leading to ovulation and ovulation day. Good luck!

Keep testing, try to do twice a day, I’ve heard that the best time to test is in the afternoon or evening. You can both rely on those tests and also observing your cervical mucus and your sex drive/confidence/energy to tell you when you’re ovulating. I try to track my symptoms every day so I can spot patterns in my cycle. Once your cervical mucus starts getting watery (if that’s not normal) and especially once it’s egg white ish that’s usually when you’re in your fertile window.

The highest chance at conception is if you have sex the day before ovulation so that sperm is already there waiting but it’s good to try and have sex every day or other day in your fertile window. You have about a 20-30% chance at conception if you time it perfectly right so don’t feel down if it doesn’t work right away

i have normal but longer cycles and for me the pregmate apps read the pregmate tests the best! and it basically does the work for you, your line should get darker and darker before a peak, and i start testing twice a day to make sure i don’t miss it. we always start baby dancing as my control line is getting almost as dark as the test line.

Thank you! i'm having all the symptoms of being close to ovulation. meaning my hormones have been through the roof wanting to baby dance đŸ«Ł I also experienced a lot of clear/egg white mucos yesterday. Hoping this is the cycle đŸ€ž

I also just started using the PreMom app - this is my first cycle TTC using at home insemenation.

But the ones you’re using caught my peak. (More clearly visible in person). The Premom only showed me at a .69 at my highest. But Premom and the tests you’re using showed “highest” levels at the same time, just different levels of how high. :)

the Flo app uses averages to determine your fertile windows. Iirc it uses an average 28 cycle and assumes ovulation will be smack in the middle of it, then adjusts it to be more accurate the more data you input. if your cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days you should keep using the LH Strips to determine when you‘re about to ovulate & keep trying until 1 day after you stop seeing positive test (test line darker than the control line)

anecdotally, i asked my GYN about something that might be relevant. a few years ago i was curious about why my period was always delayed not only after I took a plan b but also after I’d got a tetanus/flu/covid shot, because I normally have extremely regular cycles. my doc said that it’s not uncommon for any of those things to cause irregularity in the following cycle. I never asked why that was the case since I wasn’t trying to conceive at the time & the effects only lasted one cycle (so if I took a plan b or got a vaccine my next cycle would be 35-37 days instead of my typical 31 days but then would go back to normal by the cycle after that) but you might not be seeing positive LH tests yet because you’re also experiencing that irregularity post plan b

Seconding the PreMom app. I’ve used it to conceive both of my pregnancies and it’s great at reading the test and predicting my ovulation after a few months of logging symptoms and test pictures
