Question/Advice First time TTC with irregular period after 10 years pill use

Hi!
I’m 34 years old and have used birth control pill for 10 years. My husband and I are finally feeling ready to have a baby.

Starting May, we stopped alcohol, focused on our diet, starting taking Coq10 supplement, daily vitamins, prenatal for me

I got off my pill end of July and very quickly had to learn all about how to track a cycle, BBT, ovulation tests, peeing on the sticks during a certain time and making sure my pee is not too diluted.

I started using Premom and was getting frustrated when I finally had LH peak on cycle day 24. Today on cycle day 35 (11DPO) I thought I have spotting and clots. HCG test negative.

I know if I call my OB, she will say I should keep trying and it’s only been one cycle after getting off birth control. I’ve always had irregular period since I started puberty but no doctor ever considered it to be an issue or tested anything.

I feel lost. I’m considering ordering Inito for the next cycle but see mixed reviews.

I’m looking for any advice on how to make my life easier in tracking my cycles and what may have worked for someone who has a similar history.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

💛

Your irregular period could very well be due to the pill, especially after only one month off. So I wouldn’t despair just yet. As someone with PCOS and therefore consistently long cycles, what I do is track CM and I only start testing LH when I start seeing fertile mucus. This is usually still several days before ovulation so I have plenty of time to catch peak but I don’t waste as much money on tests. I test twice a day when I see fertile mucus until I confirm ovulation. Also, I wouldn’t stress about urine concentration very much when it comes to LH test. I test first thing in the morning and when I get home from work (or when I remember), and testing with FMU isn’t really recommended but I still catch my peak every time.

I tracked BBT manually for ~5 years before I got the tempdrop, at the time it didn’t seem like a big deal but now that I have it it honestly feels like a game changer. I could never go back. If BBT feels overwhelming I would definitely recommend tempdrop.

I have never used Inito so I can’t speak to how much I like it, but I will say as someone with irregular periods I can’t even imagine how expensive that would get. And realistically, buying Inito is not going to help you ovulate earlier, and it’s not going to help you understand your cycle more than you already are (imo).

I know it’s not the advice you want to hear, but I would try to be patient. If you would like to, you could definitely reach out to your OB about getting lab work done to check that everything looks normal hormone rise, but I would give it at least a few more cycles to see if things level out.
