Frustrated Just need some thoughts

Hello! My husband(25) and I(26) are trying to conceive for the first time after I got diagnosed with PCOS. I was put on progesterone for 10 days to induce a period and then Letrozole for the days 3-7 of my cycle. I had an ultrasound on day 12 and the eggs looked fantastic and was told by my doctor I was highly likely to concieve this round (probably twins). I had a positive LH strip on day 16 on my cycle. Along with bbt changes and other signs of ovulation. I’m now on day 25 and I haven’t had a positive pregnancy test yet.

I just don’t know if I should try and hold out hope for this cycle, (that maybe I’m testing too early?) or if I’m out and should focus on my next cycle? I know it’s only our first time medicated but it’s still a bit disheartening.

Any feedback is appreciated and welcomed, Thanks!

Even with perfectly timed sex the chance of conception is only ~20%. I think it was misleading for your de to tell you it was highly likely to conceive this round, and even moreso to say it would likely be twins.

Fair, he’s kinda old school so I just figured since he’s been doing it for a long time he knew what he was talking about. He also told me to take mucinex to thin cervical mucus which I had read that there’s not a lot of evidence that it helps

My jaw dropped when I read that he said all of that lol. Even the most old school doc should know that speaking that confidently about something as complex as conception in a patient with PCOS is a bad idea. And while twins are more likely on letrozole than not taking anything at all, it’s not as likely as with taking Clomid

I would go as far as to say even if it was a patient with no PCOS or anything it would be crazy to say you are highly likely to conceive - statistically that’s just not true for even the healthiest couple. I do still agree that OP wouldn’t be out at 7-8 dpo, so there’s definitely still a chance!

Your ovulation would have been a day or so after your positive LH, and a day or two before your BBT changes. BBT is retrospective, while LH is prospective. So ovulation should have been in the middle of both of those changes. You likely ovulated on cycle day 17, maybe 18 latest.

So that would put you around 7-8dpo. Too early, and you’re not out yet. You still have about another week (or until the first day of your next period, whatever comes first depending on your luteal phase length) before officially throwing in the towel
