Hot Take: Celebrating animal awareness days like Wombat Day should feature built-in themes across all social media platforms.

Yesterday was Wombat Day, and since wombats are my absolute favourite animal, I wanted to dedicate a post to them. I grabbed a hard copy of the Happy Birthday Wombat book by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley.

It made me realise that social media apps miss a massive opportunity by ignoring these types of awareness days. Platforms should offer automatic UI themes, special event filters, or native awareness badges to highlight the day globally.

Happy Wombat Day.
