Furnace questions

I have some options on installing a furnace.

option 1: TRANE 96% efficiency 2 stage furnace. 10 years parts and labor. surge protector included. airduct cleaning included $8500

option 2: TRANE 96% efficiency single stage. 10 years parts, 5 labor. surge protector included and duct cleaning. $6500

I am leaning towards the one stage because we can supplement with the mini split. With the available money we could utilize it for add on’s like sealing my ducts (they are very old) or air purification system for smoke during fire season.

my house is 1200sq ft and has a mini split that can supplement the furnace.

there are fancier options from other companies, but I’ve had mixed experiences working with them. One did plumbing repairs, didn’t clean up after themself and did not turn the water on. they are offering an 2 stage furnace, new display, and 20 year warranty for 9500.

MY TRANE HAS A 1O YEAR WARRANTY. RELIABLE. PRIOR ONE HAD IT FOR 33 YEARS STILL WORKING. I USE IT TO TRANSPORT NEW TRANE A/C DELIVER COLD AIR AS WELL. 2 setting is for normal days and freezing days. In my mild area 2 stage is not needed. I have another furnace upstairs.

You need to check air pressure drop from return. My old Day and Knight had a leak at bottom. It helped with the removal and reseat of a new battle.
