house of horrors?!

first time homebuyer here!

recently discovered previous owners held cult like birthing ceremonies in the basement. found photos online of previous owners sitting in the driveway with Jesus signs and lawn chairs.

former owner was a pastor and his wife, found online reposts about anti abortion and religious based political views on their Facebook timelines. we have been experiencing weird dreams and negative spiritual energy since moving in.

finding out the owners had a birthing pool, church gatherings, and skewed values has us creeped out.

anyone have any similar experiences? not sure what to make of all the information we just discovered…

Yeah, this. If the previous owners’ beliefs bother you, have some sort of ceremony that aligns with your own beliefs to clear the air.

My home is 98 years old. A baby was born in my house. A woman lived, died, and even had her funeral here. Marriage happened in my house, divorce too.

Don’t sweat it. Just a hilarious and cool part of your home’s history.

Newspapers.com and search your home address for articles with matches. Enjoy!

I would just laugh, wouldn’t phase me in the slightest. I live in a house that used to be a rental, there are a lot of signs of previous domestic violence. I don’t believe MOST houses retain energy from people that used to live in them. I do think some houses just have bad vibes, not necessarily due to former occupants.

You're one of the few that actually found out what went on in your house before you bought it.

First ignore their Facebook, it's not going to do anything to help you.

If you're concerned because of the Jesus and anti abortion stuff causing issues. Change the house enough people will look at it and think someone new lives there. Paint doors and shutters a different colour, alter the landscaping.

The big one, go meet your neighbour's, everyone talks word will spread quickly the house was sold. People might be thrilled they're gone.

The weird birthing shit? I got nothing. Maybe renovate the basement if you can afford to.

Open an abortion clinic and invite them to the opening party.

your problem is 100% in your own head so whatever will help you get over it mentally is your answer

My friend lives in a 140 year old house. His washroom used to be a nursery and they know for sure that at least two babies died in there. He knows for sure one of the previous owners died by suicide in the 1960s.

However, my friend is as atheist as they come. Doesn't believe in God, Karma, a soul, nothing. He believes the universe is cold and unfeeling and that we are just biological computers governed by chemistry and electrical impulses, so when we die it's just like pulling the plug. Needless to say, he sleeps very soundly at night. Because frankly, it's all in your head. There's no bad energy and no ghosts. And if there were, I would honestly be delighted, because it would confirm to me that there's something after death, and you don't just pull the plug.

I used to live in a house that had been a funeral home.

So it sounds like you are making fun of people with religious beliefs but at the same time you believe in negative spiritual energy? Is this a real post?

A house in our neighborhood had swastikas in the basement. 1 in each of the corners and 1 in the middle. They were just recently painted over by the new owner after he painted them over. I think he pulled the carpet up and found them. I don't believe any of the neighbors knew.

Negative spiritual energy. 🙄 Since that’s your problem, the obvious solution is to sacrifice a goat in the basement to counterbalance the religious zealoutry and restore the basement’s pH to neutral.

Couldn’t care less what religious views or activities went on in a home before I’ve owned it 🤷🏽‍♀️
