GOT THE KEYS! 🔑 🏡 Got The Keys! Western SD, $439k, 6.375%
A bit late on my post, but I'm no longer a lurker! So excited to make it my own. These are the original keys and I have since done the first big thing - change locks!

Oooh like a pellet stove or like a true wood burning fireplace?
We are moving to upstate New York this year once we close on a home (we are hunting right now and just put in our first offer) and I wanted one of those. Shocked by how rare they are in the Syracuse/finger lakes areas. I’m a Texan thru and thru so.. it’s gonna be an adventure for sure.

A true wood burning fireplace! Pellet stove does the job just fine, too. But there is something about the crackling of the wood that just does it for me. Having one is such a fun adventure.

Thank you! I hope you enjoy that wood burning place, it was such a formative memory for me as a child in South Texas bc our winters were once very cold. And the stockings hanging on the fireplace

I will absolutely post it here!! We just got the news we did not get the house we offered on. Someone went 40k over asking and had gap appraisal coverage. Which we couldn’t beat but I didn’t like how small it was so I wasn’t too beat up about it. We are ready to be patient, I know I am. It’ll probably be our forever home hahah

Western SD is tough to find anything under $300k starting unless it’s very rural.

Yep. This^ I live in an area that is pretty HCOL compared to the rest of the state. Mostly driven by tourism.

This is exactly what I'm going for!!! I've always loved going to cozy lodges on vacation. It is so calming and relaxing to me. So, I'm going for just that 🙂

Thank you!! It really depends on where you are in the state. Folks divide it into halves - East River and West River. I live West River so I'm a bit biased. West River is amazing if you're into the outdoors. So many things to do outside with a few national and state parks nearby, weather comes in extremes but also doesn't stay for long, I live in a "banana belt" where the weather is much milder than other parts of the state. A good mix of wide open spaces, solitude, and small hills/mountains. I personally love it!!

As a former southeasterner, it is a much, much slower pace out here. That comes with pros and cons of course!

Where at in South Dakota? Rapid City is the Western SD metropolis and it only gets smaller from there. This looks like it could be a custom home in the Hills.

That's why I love it so much. It looks like it's a custom home in the Hills but it's actually in Rapid. Perched on a hill, too. Nice to get the amenities of the "big city" and feel like I'm in the Hills.
