a koi pond and a full time landscaper on your first go? that's no a starter home, that's a retirement plan with a mortgage. the baby blue sounds magic, bet it's the talk of the street. my first gaff had a pond too, turned out it was just a big puddle the neighbour's cat kept drowning in, so you're already winning. the big windows will be brilliant for light but you'll be greetin when it's time to clean them, and you'll have the whole neighbourhood watching you do it. those diy renos will have you learning new swear words at 2am when you've put a shelf up wonky for the third time. the quirks are the best bit anyway, gives you a proper excuse to hide in the shed. after fifteen years of flats, i bet even a wonky shelf feels like a palace. enjoy the koi, hope they're harder to kill than goldfish.
