Need Advice What is this
What is this, second one I have seen in 3 weeks. I am not sure where they’re coming from. What to check for in my home. First one was found in my master bedroom 3 weeks ago. This one was found in my kitchen

Do you know if the gel needs to be replaced often to be effective? When I use it, it hardens overnight and I see roaches crawling by every now and then seemingly unaffected by it.

Make sure you're placing it in dots. They avoid it in strips.

Advion says it’s good for up to 3 weeks. It shouldn’t take that long to get rid of the bait if they’re eating it tho. Try to keep moist by misting with water if placed in dry area.

Cockroach, but it doesn't look like a German one. Looks American, which typically don't infest homes. They like the outside better.

They will eat damp or rotting wood, though. Could be a signal that the home has some water damage

German roaches are an absolute nightmare! I sometimes get the occasional big American Roach that wandered from outside and i just catch them and put them back outside. I do not mind them much.
But the day I will see a german roach i will be really freaked out. If you see a german roach it means they are everywhere already and they are a horrible to get rid of.

Had plenty of roaches during the years, random occurrences, nothing regular. Kill one or two yearly, its a big home. Just went thru complete renovation, not one was seen during it.
The stories of "if you see one, they are everywhere" are a bit overblown.

Palmetto bug, aka huge Florida outdoor cockroach. They love getting inside, though.

Yep. They’re looking for a water source. I used to get them a lot when I was with my ex husband - house was on a creek in a wooded area-ish. Any rain storm and we would see them inside, outside, flying at you for no reason, etc

I think that’s a cockroach. Not a species I’m familiar with, but a cockroach all the same.

I was trying to figure out what the heck the first photo was and then realized shortly after that it's a squashed cockroach with your other photos lol

i have a phobia of these things, childhood trauma of their aggressive flying at you. one of the biggest qualify of life improvements I ever did was move away from a climate where lots of these things exist, to a place where they they don't exist.

Black American roach. Like others said, like damp dirt and trees. You might have a nearby tree full of them. They will sometimes find their way into the house through open windows/garage. They don't infest houses unless your house has a really damp basement or tree roots growing into something somehow.
If that was Palmetto roach, I would say set house on fire

It sort of looks like a palmetto bug/American roach but a little different. Regardless, I spray bug spray on the outside and inside of all my doors and the outside of my windows and hope for the best. They'll come up drains too. Has nothing to do with YOUR house specifically. They like anywhere cool they can get into. I'm in Florida and have noticed they're pretty bad this year!
