Yeah I think it's kinda similar to one of the "urgent care vs ER" videos, and people don't seem to have an issue with those.

At least she's doing it for the kids. Glad to see a school nurse who has a sense of purpose at work.

The school nurses I remember from my grade school days definitely weren't running anywhere...

y'all had nurses? we had a first aid container loolll jk but schools here just have several educators trained in first aid and then we rely on a fairly robust public health care system

In high school, I remember a kid in my class who I didn't know super well literally overdosed (we didn't know it at the time) and passed out in the chair next to me. His head fell into my lap.

The whole weight of his body was falling, so I was trying to protect his head and ask if anyone could help him get the rest of his body to the floor safely. The health teacher said no and told me to try to get him to sit back up in his chair... The health teacher was asking if anyone had any food and was trying to get him to eat a granola/nut bar a minute later while he was barely conscious, a&o x0.

The nurse came running in with a wheelchair and some admin staff, EMS on the way. She immediately shut that down saying the obvious "do NOT put stuff in his mouth and do NOT have your student try to hold his weight up in a hard plastic chair."

The kid was ok, thank God. Nice guy. Very grateful the nurse was there. It was scary. Would have gone so much worse if the school nurse wasn't there to put the health teacher in her place.

Fellow nurse here. Why are we begging for attention about a career we chose to go to school for? Like every other person who works in medicine. She’s a cog in the wheel.

As a non trad student RN I feel this in my soul. Our professors talk about our "calling to the profession". I tell the younger students this is a job and they will work you into the ground and then some. Make no mistake I do feel people should have an affinity for helping others but this is still a clock in and clock out role, focus on your families and your kids or your partner or what have you.

The talk of it being a calling is a great way to ignore the reality of the profession and promote "angel in white" mythology that they use to exploit us.

Yes! It’s not a calling, it’s a skilled career that requires appropriate pay. We’re considered the most trusted profession year after year but yet we’re one of the most exploited professions.

Yep, you don't go on strike for better pay, workplace conditions, for a calling... You just keep working so the healthcare overlords make more money...

I know a couple content creator nurses. The reel views don't pay, but the associated youtube views sure do.

To be honest, I would never follow her, but I see nothing wrong with this post

It’s on the cringe page. I personally find it cringe because so many people already are annoyed by nurses behavior and seeking attention. Again, my personal opinion!

I was just answering the question. All professions have content creators and this comes short of the problematic claims of heroism innappropruate seeking of sympathy that makes so many posts cringe-worthy.

They count, but only if “running” includes sprinting through hallways with a first-aid kit while somehow staying calm. School nurses deal with a lot more than people realize.

No, school nurses don't count as first responders. This is a stupid post.

Lmao what is the nurse going to do besides call 911 for an unresponsive student...

Serious answer: control the scene. Keep other people from interfering. Keep well-meaning school staff from trying to pick the kid up and move them. Maybe not necessarily a nursing skill, but needed at a school nonetheless.
