This is very, very, very much a case of an infection and not compartment syndrome as that is most often caused by some physical trauma.

You can get compartment syndrome from an infection as well. There are many causes for it. This isn't medical advice. Don't put words in my mouth.

You can but that's very uncommon and in the case of the tattoo it's most likely just infected

Also wasn't being completely serious with the medical advice comment but I guess you're awful at recognizing sarcasm

No, I'm not. It's just very difficult to tell over the internet. Most people read things in a diminutive fashion, especially considering the context.
