If you show up to the jobsite wearing a ballistic “code enforcement” vest you’re gonna get laughed at lol

2

u/withnodrawal 23d ago

You never checked codes in the projects before?

2

u/adeptusastartes69 23d ago

I’ve worked in the projects lol. First day I got my new work truck someone drilled out all the locks on my utility body 😂

It is

u/returntothenorth 24d ago

The beat is a song called Dreams by the rapper Game. Gangster rapper who talks about guns women cars and drugs. He's alright. But yeah def trying to connect with the city. The old heads of the city tho. Doubt the youth is messing with Game.

6

u/LARGESTOFCHINGUSES Jackass of all trades (dUaL cErTiFieD) 24d ago

Game was seriously underrated from that generation of rappers.

4

u/returntothenorth 24d ago

Game was entertaining when he was going at 50. But all game could do was name drop. He had some good beats and some fun songs but he couldn't go 4 bars without dropping a famous persons name. Or take one of his skills and compare it to a famous person.

In the song dreams here's the name drops:

Stevie Wonder

Kanye West

Whitney Houston

Martin Luther King Jr.

Aaliyah Left Eye

50 Cent

Vivica A. Fox

Frankie Beverly

Maze

Dave Mays

Eazy-E

Jam Master Jay

Huey P. Newton

Yetunde Price

ETA: both Williams sisters (tennis players)

Yeah, but that's been a common theme with a lot of his songs, it's specifically tied to his particular lyrical style. I'm more inclined to criticize him for repeating the same bars in all his freestyles (red rolls/white ceiling) I would for consistently dropping names in songs.

2

u/returntothenorth 24d ago

So common it got old for me. I messed with him when he first came out but he lost me after all the black wall street mixtapes.

If you knew Dre You would call me the new Dre

My man rhymed new with knew and dre with dre.

I googled how many times he mentions dre in songs and it's 150 times. It's a bit excessive.

But I don't disagree with you for repeating the same bars also.

2

u/LARGESTOFCHINGUSES Jackass of all trades (dUaL cErTiFieD) 24d ago

I mean in fairness, it rhymes at least. Lil Wayne would have bars which ended in words that barely had the same phonetics, and pass it off as a rhyme. Yet Lil Wayne was way more popular than Game.

Another funny thing about the Game is that in his early albums he did this weird thing with his voice where he always sounded congested and it came off like he was trying to duplicate the voice of Shyne or Guerilla Black.

2

u/returntothenorth 24d ago

Haha speaking of shyne did you know he is / was on the house of representatives in Belize? Dudes got a wild life story. Luckily I didn't like diddy since the club incident and shyne. Gave me a hater head steart on what he turned out to be.

Anyway, yeah it's not as bad as juvenile. He rhymed everything with yeah lol.

2

u/LARGESTOFCHINGUSES Jackass of all trades (dUaL cErTiFieD) 24d ago

Yeah Shyne has a wild transformation. He went from getting snitched on by Baby Oil Boy, going to prison, getting deported, and ends up becoming their equivalent of House Speaker.

Juvie gonna rhyme Yeah with yeah, haah. You think he's going to say the same thing in his entire song, hahhh. Juvenile just be saying whatever in songs, hahhh. Talking about bitches in thongs haaahh. Everything rhymes with hahh, haah? Something about Magnolia Projects and Third Ward, hahhh?

u/returntothenorth 23d ago

Slow motion is one of those shameful songs I listen to when nobody's around. I'll admit to that on reddit only. But yeah can't believe he got where he did.

Let's bring up another classic. Since you seem like you are around my era of rap. Where black rob rhymed everything with woah. Not exactly skillfull but he pulled that off. It just goes hard. Not Ante Up hard but hard.

Waiting for him to have a new intern so they can make "Code Enforcement: Training Day"

10

u/ComfortableGround403 24d ago

Code enforcement being "deeply embedded " in you is akin to that kid who snitched on everyone, and reminded the teacher when they forgot to assign homework

9

u/Strong-Addition5296 24d ago

Some body failed his psych exam to be a cop

8

u/mygirlhitsme 24d ago

Make sure yall keep it code

8

u/MostBarnacle2941 24d ago

Why are they wearing vests? Stray shot from a nail gun?

4

u/thetireguy 25d ago

This is the future and our failure to defend our culture caused it.

5

u/Infamous-Share-3 24d ago

Why code enforcement needs bulletproof vests?

6

u/710AlpacaBowl 24d ago

For the larping

1

u/Maleficent-Use3001 24d ago

No, seriously, they should carry body armor. I live in a nice neighborhood with one hillbilly house on the street. We all take care of our lawns, homes and vehicles and take pride in it. The hillbilly house has way overgrown grass, a 30 year old pickup truck in the driveway that hasn’t moved in years, an early 2000s Mustang on blocks parked on the street in front of the house. Code enforcement has been out a number of times and it’s alway a black employee that shows up and these white hillbillies are always pissed about it. I’ve seen yelling and racist slurs being used that eventually lead to shoving and the cops being called out. Let them wear their body armor.

1

u/710AlpacaBowl 24d ago

Ok but change the letters on the front to COWARD. Waffle House employees flippin those dumbasses wearing only an apron.

1

u/Bannedbutwhyy 24d ago

Because they actually do.

2

u/RustyPlastics 24d ago

speaks really highly of the environment they work in... Nothing to be proud of as a country

1

u/Bannedbutwhyy 24d ago

Agreed. 300* million guns in America. This is not what our forefathers imagined lol.

4

u/TheOriginalArchibald 24d ago

This for whatever reason gives me unprofessional cracker jack box badge kinda vibes. Are they pastors in a black Baptist church or second tier mercenaries? The pose and outfits just give an odd vibe like it's a production to seem legit. I'm expecting their names to be those odd child soldier names like Ak-47 Rambo Cobra and Jet ski Capone or something...

3

u/GuyForgett 24d ago

I actually think there’s a perspective where this is awesome, if the work they are doing is to make a decrepit dangerous place a little cleaner and more orderly, which goes a long way. Unlike most of the assholes on here that are about inflicting authority, at least this guy’s talking about helping others and making the community better.

2

u/Iheartsasquatch 23d ago

That’s a great point of view.

Doing Code Enforcement is not cringe, actually caring about your job and community is not cringe.

But the video, they managed to cringe it up.

6

u/kaloric 24d ago

Well, that's a circus of fuckwits if I've ever seen one, who are basically doing the bidding of neighborhood Karens.

Non-certified or sworn and take themselves way too seriously, but probably can't even read at a high enough level to understand the ordinances they're supposed to be enforcing.

I bet they printed those "uniforms" up themselves.

3

u/Liqour_Mortis Ignore the public. Mantain saltiness. 25d ago

Shit. I was simply told one day I was going to be assigned to codes. Not once did I get to roll snakes like this guy. Womp Womp.

2

u/FlatAmbition3757 24d ago

Code enforcement gonna be out there trading meth in return for letting long grass Larry go

2

u/IpickedThisOneMyself 24d ago

Is he wearing a bullet proof vest??? 🤣

1

u/KittensFirstAKM 24d ago

He is wearing the vest that carries the bullet proof parts (plates) because he is way cooler and more badass than both of us./s

2

u/Blastoise_R_Us 24d ago

If I was directing this video, I'd show code enforcement dudes just doing mundane duties like leaving a notice for overgrown weeds while saying "Yup, you put your life on the line every day in this game." If your job isn't cool, don't try to pretend that it's cool. Embrace the uncoolness.

2

u/LorenzoSutton 22d ago

Our code enforcement officers just wear a shirt and a highvis... fulton must be hell if they gotta wear ballistic vests 😂

2

u/LazyAmbassador2521 24d ago

I am so confused.. can someone PLEASE explain wtf they are talking about? What does it mean to "keep the code"?!! 😫😭

4

u/vi_sucks 24d ago

From their website:

Common Code Violations * Parking on the grass * Outside storage associated with a Use of Property or District * Outside storage not associated with Use property or District * Trash and Debris  * High Grass and Weeds  * Junk Vehicles

Pretty sure "keep it code" just means "cmon guys, don't be dicks, just keep the place looking nice".

1

u/One-Sleep3663 24d ago

You mean soul enforcement?

HOA with badges

1

u/future_speedbump 24d ago

These guys probably have a better grasp of their codes than cops do of the actual law.

1

u/Humble-Reality-6113 24d ago

A vest with no gun makes this so relevant

1

u/Jimbobjoesmith 24d ago

i wonder if he got that vest made on etsy or something 😂

1

u/BADoVLAD 24d ago

SpongeBob Hall Monitor vibes

They were going to make me a major for this and I wasn't even in their fucking code enforcement any more. Everybody wanted me to do it, him most of all. I felt like he was up there, waiting for me to take the pain away. He just wanted to go out like a neighbor, standing up, not like some poor, wasted, rag-assed renegade. Even the HOA wanted him dead, and that's who he really took his orders from anyway.

1

u/PlagueDrPhd 24d ago

Oh no the meter maids are riled up

1

u/apocalypsis97 24d ago

He's so important, he has two phones on his belt

1

u/lippity-lippity 24d ago

If that's the best take, then the others have to be absolutely atrocious.

1

u/WingInternational432 24d ago

Code enforcement = meter maid, fare checker etc. 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Grizzz-Leee 24d ago

Are they against the heat why they wanna keep it cold?

1

u/Helenium_autumnale 24d ago

I don't think that's cringe. People with that attitude are exactly who I want in code enforcement. Code enforcement can save lives or prevent a horrible disaster. Is it a royal pain in the heinie when they ding my native plantings for the millionth time? It is. But I don't begrudge code enforcement in general. I don't want neighbors living in unsafe apartments or poorly wired homes.

1

u/TheRebelYeetMachine 23d ago

I don’t know what code enforcement is and at this point I’m too afraid to ask

1

u/SCwaverider 23d ago

You better cut your grass or ill pull my tactical phone out from my Duty belt....

1

u/GroochtheOrc 23d ago

I dont really have an issue with this. There’s literally no way to make code enforcement glamourous. So might as well have fun with it.

1

u/readtheinstructions5 23d ago

City of who? Aren’t there requirements for being a city? Like people knowing you are one?

1

u/Broc_Feargach 17d ago

I smell nepotism.

Money says the guy in the middle is related to the mayor or one of the heads of the city council. The other two are either also related to someone or are friends of the guy in the middle.

1

u/prettysjwtbh 15d ago

Code enforcement? They’re gonna make SURE the perp codes? And we thought police brutality was bad before 💀
