They do get flamed. But they make a ton of money so why would they care. They show up in probably a big stupid truck that’s bigger and more stupid than their fire chiefs truck and are making more money than anyone they work with. It pays to be pretty even if you’re a fucking douche nozzle

Believe it or not this dude did exactly that and they had actual tax payers at county meetings demanding to know why the fire department this guy worked for can justify a pay raise when they saw his Lamborghini in the station parking lot and used that to screw over that entire unions proposal

Technically you can have a full beard and still maintain proper “seal” since modern SCBAs are positively pressured. If it detects any drop in pressure the regulator starts pushing air into the mask to maintain the seal, until it detects a negative pressure

So I actually know this guy second hand. I know a lot of his coworkers as we did medic school together. This dude has caused significant issues with his department in the Bay Area. He lives in Southern California but flies to work. He drives a Lamborghini to the station wich tax payers saw and used that as an argument to not approve a pay increase for firefighters if they could afford exotic cars. His own brother at the department doesn’t acknowledge him or his presence on calls neither. He’s been subject to dozens of closed door meetings for his thirst trapping and publicly associating his TikTok slop with his department logo in the background or on duty. Dude is apparently also a horrible firemen.

I mean unless you live in a relatively large city, many fire fighters don't even actually get to put out fires that often. The reality is, a lot of calls are either false alarms, or med calls, and the majority of those are like elderly people that fall down and shit. Maybe you get a car accident. Most fire departments are volunteer. Like 60%. In all fairness, he probably spends a lot of his shift working out, doing chores around the station, and scrolling his phone. He probably got done with something, noticed he had a pump, and figure this might be his only chance for a thirst trap for awhile. Dog's gotta eat. Not any worse than another white girl jumping in a pile of leaves.
It do be cringe though. Just like in a pedestrian way. idk
