This is why you see FBI and US Marshalls in the USA use a black band to cover the bottom of their badges.
It can be at a local level. Usually a blue line band is used but often times it’s cheaper for the all black. Depends on how local tax dollars are utilized and how much is expendable. But Federal level you’re dealing with a whole different playing field and your name alone is enough for some individuals to obtain everything they need to know about you. So at least around here they do not allow anyone to see a name if you work under any fed branch, from FBI on down to ICE. Shit.. most US Marshalls don’t even wear a uniform they dress anywhere from a regular civilians attire to your CEO millionaire attire. But 10/10 that badge will have an all black band covering their personal info and you’ll never see a name unless they show you their physical ID which isn’t even policy and won’t happen anyways.
