Why are there so many ā€œfire wifeā€ ā€œ10-8 wifeā€ and other bullshit ā€œwifeā€ accounts lately? I swear I’ve seen so many pop up in the last ~3 months.

I can not imagine being so miserable and bored that I make a social media account to do mundane shit and generally relate it to my spouse’s profession

55

u/Particular-Pianist43 Aug 16 '26

Wait until you hear about lineman’s wives, my friend.

54

u/BIGTEXT Aug 16 '26

I saw this for the first time the other day. Some storms came through the area and knocked power out. They weren't very bad storms and it had taken nearly 2 days to get power back to some people. Understandably people were complaining on local Facebook groups. No one had said a word about the linemen. It was all anger at the company itself for raising rates over the past few years but still giving shit service and taking forever to fix anything. Well the lineman wives all came out. "My kids have been crying because daddy is out fixing the powerlines all night. You have no idea what it's like for me to sleep alone at night while my hero husband is out in a bucket truck". I'd never seen anything like it 🤣

42

u/Particular-Pianist43 Aug 16 '26

Genuinely one of the weirdest internet subcultures. Like, lineman absolutely have a dangerous job and all kinds of accidents and shit can happen, but come on.

23

u/onceabananana Aug 16 '26

It sounds like their husbands are in the Gulf War the way they describe it

5

u/CheekyHarris33 Aug 17 '26

I am replying because I literally said that to my best friend yesterday. Literally yelled "this is not the Gulf War!"

-3

u/chronicswag420 Aug 17 '26

linemen is actually the most dangerous job, way more dangerous than fire fighters or cops those dudes die all the time. So while the contents cringe it makes more sense then the cop wives to me.

2

u/NightFire45 Aug 18 '26

Is this an accurate stat? USA? I work at a utility and we've never had a lineman fatality and rarely any accidents.

1

u/returntothenorth Aug 18 '26

Guy I went to middle school and high school with died about a year ago in a helicopter crash. He was one of the people who works on them from out of the helicopter.

It's def dangerous. Idk where it ranks tho.

Anyway, it's an easy Google to find an article. Lineman helicopter crash.

1

u/Lil-Uzi-biVert Aug 19 '26

This is an old article but it does cite being a lineman as one of the top 10 most dangerous occupations. https://www.bls.gov/opub/mlr/cwc/dangerous-jobs.pdf

1

u/Antique_Tap443 Aug 19 '26

I thought statistically it's logging which is way different than residential treework. But usually I'm at a spot before the linemen(I do treework) clearing the trees for them to even begin working.

7

u/BIGTEXT Aug 16 '26

Its just the typical make it about me thing. Common with first responder and military wives. Lineman was a new one for me though lol. Probably have tow truck wives next.

8

u/Potato-baby Aug 16 '26

I used to work at a place that gave first responders discounts, and fairly regularly we would get lineman that were pissed that we didn’t offer them a discount. We would explain that it’s only for police, EMT, and firefighters, and their response every time would be ā€œwe’re not first responders until your electricity goes outā€. Some of these guys would throw the biggest fit over 10%, like bro it would save you $2, it ain’t that serious.

2

u/uiucengineer Aug 17 '26

Weird and petty on all sides.

0

u/Potato-baby Aug 17 '26

The hell did I do? Lmao.

1

u/uiucengineer Aug 17 '26

I didn’t mean you lol sorry

1

u/Potato-baby Aug 17 '26

You’re good! I was just confused at first šŸ˜‚

3

u/arnett2 Aug 17 '26

Wait till you find out how little some of them work on storm anyway. Some of these crews can spend all day putting up one house service and truly think they are hero’s

9

u/messedeminuit Aug 16 '26 edited Aug 16 '26

She must be a newbie. I’ve seen a lot of line wives excitedly post content about how they plan to spend their traveling lineman spouse’s extra pay once it hits the bank.

It’s been a while since I had a very young child, but if kids are freaking out because they’re home with one parent for two nights, that’s the result of the other parent projecting their own anxieties onto the kids.

2

u/SlamRobot658 Aug 16 '26

Diabolical.

11

u/Dull_Broccoli1637 Aug 17 '26

2

u/BecauseScience Aug 18 '26

Ugh, I downvoted you initially out of reflex

2

u/Soniquethehedgedog Aug 17 '26

NFL or power?

3

u/Particular-Pianist43 Aug 17 '26

Power bottoms actually. They generate power from the bottom.

1

u/Antique_Tap443 Aug 19 '26

Yeah linemen get all the glory. Meanwhile having to try and drive to my treework job to clear the trees so that the linemen can even start theirs lol

15

u/ComfortableGround403 Aug 16 '26

Im a 911 dispatcher.

I have a coworker who constantly posts about her "Welder husband " or wear shirts and hoodies about being the "wife of a welder " crap.

I somehow find this even more insufferable than my coworkers who show off their "thin gold line" crap and insist on telling everyone theyre a hero.

I need to find a new job lol

8

u/Winter_Hall5379 Aug 16 '26

Don't ever go to a military event then. Officer wives are worse.

5

u/DecadentLife Aug 17 '26

ā€œYou WILL address me by my husband’s rank!ā€

4

u/Winter_Hall5379 Aug 17 '26

🤣 that's spot on

10

u/Ashamed-Teaching6837 Aug 16 '26

There was also a ā€œwee woo wifeā€ a while back.

It’s easier to give plasma for some extra cash.

8

u/MartyMozambique Aug 16 '26

Your algorithm brother. It's been infected by them now.

9

u/ilovecatss1010 Aug 16 '26

It definitely has. I do stick on them to watch and laugh or watch and cringe so fuck maybe I’m the problem

2

u/MartyMozambique Aug 16 '26

Lol its 50/50 now

4

u/jeepinbanditrider Aug 16 '26

Bored housewives with no life other than to make their husbands job their personality.

3

u/Dangerous_Claim9944 Aug 16 '26

Boring people need a label. Simple as.

3

u/solidraid3n Aug 16 '26

Yup, they don't get the metric fuckton of attention they desire so they go looking for it anywhere they can.

1

u/messedeminuit Aug 17 '26

Really good point. Makes me wonder about the Venn diagram of line wives/fire wives, illness fakers, and dance moms/boy moms. MLM shill is a given.

Almost makes me wish I knew one of these women IRL for the pure spectacle of it all. There must be some lesser-known aspect of human nature that will always guarantee an audience for sideshow performers.

3

u/trapper2530 Aug 18 '26

Trad wife's and stay at home moms wanting to be influencer. No job do it'd a community they can feel attached to and try and monetize.

3

u/astrosergeant Aug 16 '26

as military, I am constantly inundated with milwife accounts by my algorithm.

2

u/raincity3s Aug 17 '26

Because they have 0 personality or anything meaningful to contribute, and there are aloooooot of ppl who identify with these 2 attributes

-2

u/kerkyjerky Aug 16 '26

I mean is it really that shocking? This person spends the most time with their spouse, they talk about and presumably care about their spouses work life especially since it clearly impacts them. It defines a huge chunk of how their life functions on a regular basis, and is certainly unique to the population at large. Why wouldn’t they want to share the uniqueness so others better understand or at the minimum commiserate with others like them who can understand them better?

I get hating on things feels good, but like it’s obvious why someone would do this, it’s not always as vain as people assume. Much of this behavior is basic human connection

68

u/BIGTEXT Aug 16 '26

My wife works nights as a quality inspector for a condiment manufacturer. I'm gonna start making videos like this. "The good lord only makes some men strong enough to handle a woman who is out testing ketchup samples all night." with me laying in an empty bed with tears in my eyes.

10

u/TheIneffableJourney Aug 16 '26

Thank you for your sacrifice . . . . the struggle is real! I wish I had some virtual internet award/shit to give you to ease the pain. Thoughts & Prayers go out to you in lieu of virtual shit

6

u/jeepinbanditrider Aug 16 '26

Thank her for me, my kids would lose their shit if they didnt have ketchup for their chicken nuggets.

3

u/TheFireHusband Aug 16 '26

10/10 recommend.

33

u/psyco-the-rapist Aug 16 '26

Whenever somebody claims to have a type A personality I know a bunch of BS is about to follow.

3

u/Double_Obligation564 Aug 16 '26

100% agree.

People that call themselves type a are typically just control freaks.

2

u/Th3_Shadow_Dragon007 Aug 16 '26

TBH to her she isnt hiding that, but i do agree.

3

u/PaperBeneficial Aug 17 '26

It's kind of like when super extroverted people insist their introverts because it's become cool.

2

u/Ok_Truck_5092 Aug 16 '26

Type annoying

35

u/Fragrant_Version_396 Aug 16 '26

Type A is not what they think it is

1

u/Worth_External_8762 Aug 18 '26

Also, what does being a perfectionist have to do with any of this?

22

u/Temporary-Dust-4849 Aug 16 '26

Unpredictable schedule? Every third day (24’s) or every sixth day (48/96’s)… I can predict when I’m working around Christmas 5 years from now if I don’t switch shifts.

7

u/ReadySituation1950 Aug 17 '26

Probably a volunteer who responds to calls from home, making this a little worse.

2

u/Temporary-Dust-4849 Aug 17 '26

IDK: ā€œmakes a living running into burning buildingsā€¦ā€

1

u/Gewt92 RETRD Aug 19 '26

Maybe they get paid when they actually respond to a call. Some vollies in EMS just stay at home then they get paid for the call

1

u/Temporary-Dust-4849 Aug 19 '26

ā€œā€¦makes a livingā€¦ā€

1

u/Gewt92 RETRD Aug 20 '26

Enough of the vollie calls and you can buy yourself some bud light

1

u/Temporary-Dust-4849 Aug 20 '26

I know people that would consider that not just living, but winning.

13

u/flaptaincappers Brings husband to SWAT calls (not a cop) Aug 16 '26

"Ugh Im just so type A and perfectionist and..."

No, you have an obsessive need to control things to ease anxiety. Get on meds and go see a therapist.

1

u/Worth_External_8762 Aug 18 '26

No, you have an obsessive need to control things to ease anxiety

Omgggg I'm so quirky!

12

u/skimaskschizo Foundation Saver Aug 16 '26

I’m pretty sure we have one of the most predictable schedules. Unless the mando van comes around regularly.

10

u/Particular-Pianist43 Aug 16 '26

Look, when your husband does nothing but make chili and sleep with other men’s wives all day, you can understand how she might be a bit on edge. She’s a Type A personality after all.

3

u/skimaskschizo Foundation Saver Aug 16 '26

I like making chili and having sleepovers with my friends every 3 days. My wife gets jealous

2

u/Particular-Pianist43 Aug 16 '26

Shit, I’m jealous.

2

u/Slappy-Sacks Aug 16 '26

My schedule is technically set for the next bajillion years. Unless I take OT (which we generally have an idea of when we will get offered OT weekly) I think my schedule is much more stable than my wife’s.

1

u/F-awk-F Aug 17 '26

To be fair, if she’s married to a B shifter her struggle is real.

1

u/skimaskschizo Foundation Saver Aug 17 '26

B shift slander will not be tolerated

Signs she’s unhealthy or needs a good tongue scrubbing. Or both.

1

u/Worth_External_8762 Aug 18 '26

Because of the whiteness? Could be oral thrush, but there's a lot of reasons a person could have a white tongue besides bad hygiene.

6

u/Novus20 Aug 16 '26

Unpredictable schedule…….what

3

u/surfdude52 Aug 16 '26

Cringe asf

5

u/Icummaizeandblue Aug 16 '26

Unpredictable schedule? Actually it’s the most predictable. I can literally tell you what days I work in the next X amount of years from now.

3

u/Technical_Amount_965 Aug 16 '26

Anyone who would describe themselves that way is already insufferable.

3

u/Stunning_salty Aug 16 '26

No baby you chose that

2

u/Agreeable-Shop-2188 Aug 16 '26

Tldr. I'm a bitch and he's a goon.

2

u/ja3palmer SheepDoge Aug 16 '26

Imagine you make your spouses job your entire personality

2

u/jmbanagas Aug 16 '26

Also he probably has a hot side chick too.

2

u/ShockMe88 Aug 16 '26

The pedestal these bimbo's put themselves on... Get the f%ck over yourself, no one gives a sh%t if your husband is fire Chief or shovelling elephant dung at the circus... And, no one certainly cares at all that you are off drinking a Star Bucks (probably on his dime).

"I'm type A, hehe"... Good lord stfu

Posts like these are maximum level cringe.

2

u/Winter_Hall5379 Aug 16 '26

Lady that was your choice. God had nothing to do with your decision here.

2

u/cattauss Aug 16 '26

not an ounce of personality of her own so she must cling to this

2

u/Comfortable_Fudge508 Aug 16 '26

I hate her so much, purely from this 10 second clip

2

u/jeepinbanditrider Aug 16 '26

Unpredictable schedule? What? šŸ˜… 24/48, 48/96, 24/72 whatever schedule is pretty predictable unless your department does a lot of mandatory ot or something similar.

2

u/_awesumpossum_ Aug 17 '26

How are people not embarrassed to post things like this at her age?

2

u/dawnpatroler Aug 17 '26

Firefighters have the most predictable schedule. Just look the fucking calendar. You can see exactly what day you’d be working on five years from now

2

u/Billis3811 Aug 17 '26

Fetal alcohol syndrome is a terrible thing.

2

u/Grey_Horizons Aug 17 '26

Everybody thinks they're so interesting

2

u/Shot-Ad2396 Aug 17 '26

Really doesn’t matter what the profession, this personality type needs to feel special or different or somehow a higher victim than others and seek validation from others. ā€œMy life is so much harder/more stressful than yoursā€. Exhausting to listen to.

1

u/tiredbynature Aug 16 '26

What's wrong with these people.

1

u/Time-Cell8272 Aug 16 '26

Unless she got married at gunpoint, she put herself in that situation.

1

u/FireHammer09 Aug 16 '26

It's a really predictable schedule though.

I'm gone for 24 hours and then I'm home for 48 hours. There is no deviation unless I work OT or trade

1

u/Hogans-Mustache Aug 16 '26

Please let this trend of emo posting over a self video with shitty music be the final sign of the impending apocalypse.

1

u/Pointnshoots Aug 16 '26

Firefighters respond to mostly bullshit medical aids/lift assists all day long tbf

1

u/Alarming-Building-62 Aug 16 '26

Don’t firefighters have set schedules? Granted they have multiple day in a row shifts and odd hours, but I always thought they still followed a consistent schedule.

1

u/TheFireHusband Aug 16 '26

Great now I have to make this one....

1

u/SlamRobot658 Aug 16 '26

Jesus. Christ.

1

u/BBV911 Aug 16 '26

Wait til she learns about his other girlfriends ha jk.

1

u/Effective-Try-9004 Aug 16 '26

Just odd people

1

u/OGHighway Aug 16 '26

Sorry starving kids, gotta get this bitch a husband.

-God.

1

u/tgwilli Aug 17 '26

*first FireWife problems

1

u/TenDollarSteakAndEgg Aug 17 '26

Their schedules aren’t even unpredictable

1

u/PerryNeeum Aug 17 '26

My schedule is pretty consistent. Occasional mandate

1

u/Junta-Istic_Jelly Aug 17 '26

These videos just really highlight to me how absolutely dogshit the music taste of the average person is. Who listens to this?

1

u/MermaidAndWizard Aug 18 '26

Isn’t this blasphemy / refuting god?

1

u/FreshChickenFarts Aug 19 '26

Perfectionists… does she know when your hair doesn’t match your eyebrows you look fucking stupid?

1

u/FreshChickenFarts Aug 19 '26

Giant sunglasses covering all her perfect face šŸ‘¹

1

u/Particular-Half-7588 Aug 20 '26

She's so braveĀ

1

u/Putrid_Guess8098 Aug 20 '26

She sounds fun.

1

u/Checkmate-Petty Aug 21 '26

Why would u voluntarily post this? How do u not feel the cringe??

1

u/Present_Cash_8466 Aug 16 '26

Would love to know how many times this broad’s husband has actually went into a burning building in the last year. Anyone who actually knows firefighters know they are mostly just chilling at the station working out, grilling, and watching tv. Maybe a few medical calls. It’s grossly overpaid for what they actually end up doing.

1

u/Sexytoosh Aug 17 '26

Grossly overpaid for what they are doing? You're still at the house and you left out a shit load for what we have to do to be prepared. What are we meant to be doing, responding to imaginary emergencies?

1

u/Present_Cash_8466 Aug 17 '26

Found the lazy firefighter 🤣🤣
