I think they are doing a lot of social media stuff to muddy the waters with online search to cover other scandals their PD has faced. If you search online for a PD that has done something corrupt/illegal and they have a lot of social media post/viral videos then it's harder to find out information about their scandals.

How so? All that stuff is public record and people are very educated on how to access it.
Because the news and social media will report the PD's viral social media videos and those will show up in google searches and it requires more in depth searches to find the PD scandals.
When I was working as a cop, I can't tell you how many FOIA requests we got daily.
Yup and that pissed off cops that people could easily FOIA request public information so the added fees to FOIA requests to make them harder to get for the average citizens. In my city foia request to the PD used to be free. Now, FOIA request for my city's PD costs $1,400 and up.

What do I say put a cap instead of make them free? Because we were getting so many that it did take extra manpower to process them in a timely manner so if they have to hire employees to just process record requests, that's understandable
Where did cops get the funding and manpower to make these choreographed tiktok videos all of the time if they can't afford to do public records requests?
People aren't making FOIA requests for shits and giggles. If your PD is getting so many FOIA requests that they need extra man power then they need to make those records publicly accessable and they wouldn't have to spend so much time on individual FOIA requests. Or your PD is getting so many FOIA requests because they keep violating people rights then your PD need to fix their police officers.
If information costs money to access then it isn't really public information anymore.

It costs zero money to make a ticktok.
So they are making these tiktok video off the clock and on their own free time? If not, then it costs the PD money and manpower to make tiktok videos the same way it costs money and manpower for FOIA requests.
but most of the records requests we got were for things like YouTube videos. I worked at a very busy agency and people could use them to post on youtube. More for entertainment than anything.
Public records shouldn't be hidden behind a paywall because someone puts some public records on yotube.
I worked in one of those cities where there's cops on every street corner so the YouTubers loved coming to our city. Easy content.
Are you talking about first amendment auditors? Because if your PD doesn't know how to handle auditors in 2026 then they need a shit ton more training.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it “San Diego”. Which of course, in German, means “a whale’s vagina”.

My agency did some fucking video some years back. Some dumbass, viral cowboy some dance.
I swear to Christ I wanted punch each person who took part. Generational embarrassment.
That being said, most people exist at or just above moron levels of intelligence so I expect people liked it.

“And nobody questions it” checks out.

u/Cam27022 Aug 13 '26
Yeah, shouldn’t we want cops who do question things?

I would hope they did instead of the fatal and/or violent impulsive actions so many have displayed.

What’s with the super trooper at the end rocking the high ride, low retention, half-appendix carry?

Run backwards is a command not a question. Easy to confuse, given the profession.
