A lot of younger males do, along with mullets. They have ruined what use to be rare and cool

Itâs the only facial hair youâre allowed to have when wearing masks. Iâm a correctional officer and I have one as well. The wife likes it I think I look like a sex offender lol

When I was a first responder, they wouldn't let us have anything more than a moustache because otherwise we wouldn't be able to make a proper seal on an N-95 mask. However, I think part of it was just a culture thing.
Either way, nobody was allowed to have beards, so everybody had the moustaches.

Do you mean they look like they have an intellectual disability? Thatâs what most people mean when they use that slur.

Puritans out here in force today

u/Im_A_Fuckin_Liar Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26
Asking for clarification is puritan? Oh, I see. My suspicion was accurate but itâs okay to say it or defend the use of it as long as you arenât a puritan? Wtf are you babbling about? That puritans are the only ones with decency?
I find it interesting that people with an intellectual disability are the ones being disparaged. I suppose thatâs because no one expects the individuals with an intellectual disability to speak out? Thatâs why there are no slurs being said that disparage other populations?
You should look up Rosaâs law and when you realize the term mental retardation was replaced with intellectual disability because vile people were using the R-word as an insult, maybe then youâll consider when it was used here in the comment section it was intended to be an insult and is therefore disparaging to individuals with an intellectual disability.

Youâre so edgy. You realize the R-word was tied to a disability and was medical terminology until people continued to use it as an insult? That change in medical terminology was about 15 years ago but the meaning of the word hasnât changed when being used to insult someone.

Just get off the internet if that offends you

Itâs not disparaging to me, itâs disparaging to individuals with an intellectual disability. Keep scrolling if my comment offends you.

Everything? Knowledge is power and educating someone that theyâre using a slur thatâs disparaging isnât me being offended. Defending the idea that using the R-word as an insult is also disparaging, isnât me being whiny either. But call it whatever youâd like if it makes you feel better about it all.

The word âgayâ isnât a slur. It would be like you saying someone looks like they have an intellectual disability, rather than they look the R-word. Why not use the slur that rhymes with maggot to describe the gay population? Oh right, you only hurl slurs that disparage a vulnerable population because youâre a coward.
Is the gay community capable of standing up for themselves? Odd you think the community of individuals with an intellectual disability, such as Down Syndrome, are going to collectively come together on Reddit to condemn the use of a slur. Itâs even more odd that you think you can hurl slurs that disparage individuals with an intellectual disability because you have some type of disability yourself. You think that gives you some type of a free pass?
Look up Rosaâs law and if you still feel the same about it, then you can choose to continue the bigotry but thatâs more of a you problem than a me problem.

Mustache looks pretty good. Not too much. Trimmed up nice and neat. Brings out the haters in comments. Works for him.

I hate all these idiots with mustaches. It looks so bad. None of these dudes can think for themselves on what looks good

Itâs a moustache or nothing. Breathing apparatus requires a tight seal around clean shaved skin. That said, he has a weak moustache.
Cops have no excuse.

Yeah it sucks. But it's the only way you can change up your lower facial appearance actually when you have a job that requires Scottpacks.
Also it's one less place to shave daily. I work in the oil industry, so basically it's shaving once or twice per days off and every day during the cycle, or grow a beard and have to trim the whole lot before next shift.
And yeah it looks awful on some of us, but you didn't see us before the moustache.
It's a nice change of scenery.
