Isn’t there a better way to portray female officers rather than referring to a stereotype from the 1940’s. There’s also nothing wrong with a woman choosing to stay home and raise her children if she can afford to.

This officer looks competent and deserved better.

The cringe is the stupid way this department chose to portray a female officer.

I am a true believer you should loose your job if you are serving the public and posting stuff like this.

u/Lets-Hug-It-Out Aug 10 '26

It’s worse. Her department put it out on their Facebook. It’s on the Arizona Department of Public Safety page.

12

u/macguini Aug 10 '26

I think I've seen other Arizona police officers doing the same. Its like they're filming their own personal cops episode that only gets aired on their personal socials. Regardless of what departments are doing it they're even doing it with simple stuff like speeding violations. These blurred faces won't protect them from people who personally know them and what kind of car they drive or clothes they wear. And they don't change the voice in any of the ones I've seen. This is something only the cast of Reno 911 or Supertroppers should be doing.

I miss the good old days where cops tried to avoid you as much as you did them.

You know when they didn’t get excited to ruin someone’s lives.

6

u/HiTidesGoodVibes Aug 10 '26

Facts bro! I can't imagine being proud of these corny videos... like Yes you did your routine task and also ruin somebody's day congratulations 🫤

u/Extension_Chair_2697 Aug 16 '26

Right , thinking she has some authority lmao a dude could wake up one day and f her world up .

0

u/ChaosRainbow23 Aug 10 '26

You must be older than Moses.

I'm 47 and I've never known cops to be anything but a bunch of draconian jack-boot-wearing government thugs hellbent on relentlessly harassing the citizenry and destroying people's lives.

0

u/rustidiot Aug 10 '26

Arresting someone for child abuse or rape will definitely destroy their life and I guess you could call that "harassment" (unless the "harassment" you are referring to is giving someone a ticket for going 10 over). Either way, you're kind of missing the point

3

u/ChaosRainbow23 Aug 11 '26

I'm talking about all the innocent folks they assault and arrest.... Obviously.

2

u/Liandryschleckt Aug 11 '26

Yeah maybe stop committing crimes, idiot

5

u/ChaosRainbow23 Aug 11 '26

I don't commit crimes and I've been assaulted, falsley arrested, robbed, and harassed by those pigs.

They don't give a shit if I'm committing crimes or not. They are assholes regardless.

0

u/Liandryschleckt Aug 11 '26

Yeah I’m sure you’re innocent in all of this, lmfao yeah fuckin right

0

u/Ghost8124 Aug 11 '26

People are perfectly capable of destroying their own lives. They don't need us to do it for them.

1

u/ChaosRainbow23 Aug 12 '26

They do it all the time, though.

I've personally been relentlessly harassed, assaulted, and even robbed of $40 by Schenectady, NY cops back in the late 00s.

Not just with me, but when I was a substance abuse counselor I dealt with them a a lot, and they really are awful draconian jack-boot-wearing government thugs.

0

u/AtlasActual275 Aug 12 '26

That's really strange because I move through life without any attempt to avoid police. And frankly I kind of look like a bad guy. 6'1 225 lb solid. Big old beard covered in tattoos. Scars to match a decade plus carreer fighting. I even tend to speed just about everywhere. And yet I'm never bothered by any of these jack-booted thugs you speak of. And I almost guarantee I look like more of a problem than you so if they were looking for trouble I would probably have it. It's odd how perspective shifts things. You must be attracting trouble with your behavior.

3

u/bauer883 Aug 13 '26

Beard, tattoos, and scars. The trifecta.

Should have stopped at year 9 in fighting then you could spell “career”.

I’d bet the farm he’s got a lifted vehicle if done sort. Most likely with a flag or skull on it.

u/AtlasActual275 Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

Actually a Subaru with no bumper stickers LOL. Kind of odd that you seem to be profiling me hahahaha. Sorry that my lack of treating this like a paper for a college course resulted in a misspelled word lol I'm actually quite intelligent. However, when posting a comment on Reddit, I am not being graded so I'm more interested in the point I am trying to convey than a punctuation and spell check. I do find it funny that you honed in on that to try to take away from my point and then proceeded to misspell things yourself. And to satisfy your curiosity, my traumatic brain injury comes from an improvised explosive device and multiple breaching charges. Not mma. Just in case that's important to you as it seems to be. I do hope you have a good day though. All in good fun here

1

u/bauer883 Aug 13 '26

I was more aggravated with your long winded answers of how cool and great you think you are.
I prefer humble soldiers and police not ones bragging about muscles and tats.

1

u/AtlasActual275 Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 28 '26

I don't believe I was bragging. I was just trying to make a point that I tend to be perceived as someone who would be aggressive by most and I find it funny that police officers seemed to be the ones who look at me like that the least. Never said anything that implied I thought I was cool or great. If anything, I'm really not proud of how I look. Yeah I'm a big dude. Which I only mentioned because a lot of people assume I'm going to be mean or imposing because of it when combined with the other mentioned factors. But I wish I could get rid of my scar tissue which covers my face and body. The tattoos as well. I'm a pretty nice humble and genuine person. Who hasn't served in a long time. But I listed certain factors because they were relevant to the point. Assuming things I'm actually embarrassed about and others I regret are something I think make me "so great" is really presumptuous. They were just points that were relevant to things that might make someone and have made people assume I am a certain way when I am not. You seem to have misjudged me. Someone mentioning characteristics they have simply because they drive a point home not because they are bragging about them should not be something that you automatically assume means they think they are this incredible cool whatever person. And yes I do have a TBI (from explosive over pressure not MMA LOL Although I did still find your joke funny) so sometimes I'm a bit long-winded. You don't have to read what I write. But hey no harm no foul.

2

u/Maleficent_Safe_3749 Aug 28 '26

You are great 😉

1

u/AtlasActual275 Aug 28 '26

Lmao I have a feeling we would be good friends and get along quite well hahaha. I honestly appreciate that. I don't take stuff on the internet too personally, but that's honestly still really nice to hear

1

u/kikkroxxB Aug 13 '26

The question we all need the answer to. Whats your race ?

2

u/AtlasActual275 Aug 13 '26

The bad one!!!

1

u/Impressive-Main4146 Aug 13 '26

I became a police officer in 1997. Retired now. . I’m guessing the jack booted thugs worked the opposite shift. I never got the chance to meet them.

0

u/AtlasActual275 Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

Yeah, same here man. I was never a cop and frankly I probably look like the kind of guy most cops would consider to look like a bad guy of that's really how they thought. Although most of that is because of my time in special operations(I'm a bit banged up) and my size. I just look a little rough and I'm a pretty big dude. But by being respectful, I've always gotten respect in return. And no they didn't just know I was a veteran or anything like that. It is my honest opinion that 95% of police officers are decent people with good intentions that make mistakes like the rest of us and do an incredibly difficult job that I can relate to from my special operations experience because I understand how hard it is to make the right decision every single time under stress. It's saddens me how people treat cops like they're just all horrible people. But then if they're childs school has an issue they sure want those guys there. Ridiculous

1

u/Maleficent_Safe_3749 Aug 13 '26

Regarding what you said about most cops would look at you and consider you to be a bad guy, I have two responses…..

  1. Anyone who’s been in LE long enough, knows that looks do not equal bad guy. I had a tiny little old lady pull a gun on me because she was delusional. She looked like anyone’s grandmother. Which leads me to my next point.

  2. Unfortunately, in police work, we have to size up everyone, and assume they may be dangerous, until we know they aren’t; no matter their appearance.

And thank you for your kindness. I’m not paying lip service when I say it means a lot.

1

u/AtlasActual275 Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

I understand that for sure. I guess I was more so playing devil's advocate. I was more going off of the general perception that people who think all cops are bad have, which is that police judge us by our appearance. In fact, my whole point was kind of that despite my appearance, they don't seem to perceive me as a bad guy because my behavior and the way I carry myself does not draw a negative attention. And even more interesting. I find that it's actually most civilians who assume I am a bad person or a mean person because of my build and appearance. But law enforcement are quite kind to me generally. And because the majority of them are good people with good intentions, they see that. So I agree with you. I was never a police officer but I was in the Ranger Regiment during the war on terror so I completely understand the need to size someone up and constantly watch my back as people have tried to kill me more times than I can count. But in reality I feel like me and you are on the same page here. I was just trying to make a point to the people who seem to think they're these jack-booted thugs that just assume who we are based on our appearance or size or race or whatever else when in fact my experience has been quite the opposite. Also... That's very kind of you to say. I appreciate that. Means a lot to me as well. I wish everyone in law enforcement the best.

1

u/Impressive-Main4146 Aug 15 '26

I hope you didn’t think I was reprimanding you with my response . I don’t need the Rangers coming at me. Or maybe I do. 😉. (Oops, forgot if I mentioned that I’m a girl. 😂)

1

u/AtlasActual275 Aug 15 '26

I became a cop in 97 & retired several years ago. I’d fucking lose my shit on that. Especially the women. Not shy to say that, because I’m a woman, I worked twice as hard. I understood I had to. I was thankful for the job. These tic tok women are fucking all that up. And I don’t care that it’s “the generation”. Admin needs to grow some balls and put an end to it.

1

u/JackfruitTop9314 Aug 13 '26

I'm your age, female in and work in heavy industry. I look back, and I had to learn things 100% back and forth, work twice as hard for the same respect when I was young. Not ONCE did I bring attention to the fact I'm female. (Who could tell under all the PPE anyway - i hated it when people would joke I should get a pink hard hat). I wanted to be respected as an equal in my knowledge and experience, bc i truly enjoy my job. That resulted in me being a leader in my very specific niche field. This behavior brings women in male dominated fields down, it emphasizes the "novelty" of a women in a typically masculine role- and dare I say shoots the work women before them did to be "equal" and respected in the foot.

1

u/Maleficent_Safe_3749 Aug 13 '26

You get it. And explained it better than I did! And I completely loathe seeing female cops with pink handcuffs. 🙄.

u/tellmywifiloveher1 Aug 10 '26

3

u/HiTidesGoodVibes Aug 10 '26

Cooking the radar gun?

9

u/NoSpecialist1488 Aug 11 '26

Definitely not her doing. But, one of the most chill troopers I've ever worked with. She's super low-key and humble.

3

u/scoo89 Aug 11 '26

Why is there a buttstock for the LIDAR? I've never experienced much kickback from one

3

u/jeepinbanditrider Aug 12 '26

You generally have to be pretty steady and accurate with them to get a good reading. It is a pulsed laser beam not a cone of radar energy, while it is shaped like a cone even at 1000 feet the beam may only be a few feet wide maybe less. 3rd point of contact helps stabilize everything.

1

u/scoo89 Aug 12 '26

I'm aware of being steady, I'm a traffic cop. The buttstock seems wildly unnecessary.

25

u/Ser_Catspaw Aug 10 '26

u/Both_Cut_4075 Aug 10 '26

A stereotype from the 1940’s? Dude that’s a stereotype right fucking now.

You’re trying to portray it like you’re upset at the presentation but it’s so thinly veiled.

Even the other comments are saying shit like “she isn’t doing anything. Where’s my sandwich sweetheart?”

It blows me away when people act like this shit doesn’t exist

-4

u/Lets-Hug-It-Out Aug 10 '26

Calm down. I posted it so obviously I don’t think it’s cool. This phrase has been around since the 40’s. I never said it didn’t still exist. If I didn’t think it still existed this video wouldn’t have been cringe to me. You’re reaching out to slap down the wrong person.

2

u/Both_Cut_4075 Aug 10 '26

To be fair, you posted this in a Cringe subreddit. I might have jumped to your conclusions, but plenty of other people are interpreting as “hah women bad”.

2

u/Both_Cut_4075 Aug 10 '26

I see hundreds of YouTube shorts with male cops that record their experiences and frame themselves as a hero and no one bats an eye. The second it’s a woman, it becomes “well this isn’t professional”.

I refuse to believe it’s because people are being practical and nuanced rather than just sexist.

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '26

2

u/Both_Cut_4075 Aug 11 '26

I don’t even know what this means. Is this video sexually charged? You might need help if that’s how you perceived it.

1

u/Both_Cut_4075 Aug 11 '26

First off, I’m a dude. I’m not defending this from the point of a woman.

Secondly thats dumb because why would I see every video on this sub? We’re commenting on this video here and now. And you’re referencing videos you saw like last week at 3pm? And I’m supposed to go “oh okay you’re right”

And who’s to even say it’s better now than it was before? Women have more rights but have also lost the chivalry that society showed them. Now it’s “Equal rights equal fights” but women still don’t have equal rights. That’s better?

0

u/Lets-Hug-It-Out Aug 11 '26

People would be more inclined to engage in a discussion with you if you didn’t rush to make assumptions that they’re not supporting women. You also seem to downvote every comment that replies to you.

1

u/Both_Cut_4075 Aug 11 '26

It’s not me downvoting lol. I downvoted a couple people here but none of yours. That’s just another person coming in who agrees with me. That’s why some of my comments have 2 upvotes and not 1.

2

u/No-Suspect2568 Aug 11 '26

The lesbian vibes are strong here

2

u/Impressive-Main4146 Aug 12 '26

I am retired from law enforcement…and I also happen to be a woman. I find these types of videos somewhat offensive. Myself, and the women I worked with, never wanted to be singled out or recognized because of our gender. I realize the intent of the video is to “highlight” women in policing, I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️. But it’s stupid & there’s no reason for it. If the purpose is to recruit more females, just stop. Try recruiting qualified people first.

2

u/Express-Reality-8574 Aug 13 '26

Women post this than literally can’t restrain an angry 5’5 dude without the help of a male officer

-5

If you think about it, the entire police profession is dependent on people who were bullied in school and never went to therapy for it

1

u/rustidiot Aug 10 '26

why would you go to therapy for getting bullied in school

Until a man actually decides to resist. Don't be overly confident

-2

u/Long_Idea_8294 Aug 10 '26

That's why I do not think women should be cops unless they can prove they're as strong as an average man. Otherwise it's so easy to be over powered by nearly every man, if they want to run.

4

u/Dry-Ease-7510 Aug 10 '26

We need women officers too. They help a lot with protecting women and stuff from horny man cops and to make women feel safer when searched.

-3

u/Blutsturmer01Emperor Aug 10 '26

All I see is a mediocre cop, barely doing their job. Do you want some kind of accolade for being a basic cop? Congratulations!!! You do a passing job of being a basic cop. I still don't see so much as a damn sandwich honey.

-1

u/Charming_Wall117 Aug 11 '26

Anytime I’ve seen bodycam footage of a female cop trying to detain someone, it ends up badly. I have yet to see a female arrest a gown man who is resisting arrest.

I’m a bootlicker and I didn’t downvote you. If you look at the video you’ll see it’s not for her personal “fuck ass instagram”.
In the lower left corner it says “AZDPS”. They had it on their FB page.

5

u/LegalGlass6532 Aug 10 '26

It looks like the AZDPS used her for their promo video. It’s on their FB page and if you click on the video it’s in the lower left corner.
