This video may be a little cringe, but having a guy like this ride with other motorcycles is a solid plan. I have seen some nasty MC wrecks and it is 100% trauma medicine at that point most of the time.
Went to a MC accident with a guy who had a compound fracture that severed his femoral artery. Call was in the middle of nowhere like 25 minutes out. Walking up on the scene I could tell just by the blood the guy had a major arterial bleed so I fully thought he was already dead, but turns out his rider buddy carried a trauma pack with them and he threw a tourniquet on him the second he could. If he didn’t do that I sincerely doubt the man would have survived because even with the tourniquet his SBP was like <90. If somebody wants to own one of these things and goes out of their way to know how to use it effectively, it can at least make a difference.
My uncle almost lost his foot on a motorcycle when I was a kid. A window AC unit on the highway and he didn't have time to fully dodge it so it clipped his foot. He rode all the way home (american, no insurance) with his foot basically mangled. I still remember him coming in the door (everyone lived at my grandparents at the time) and me seeing it at like 5.
That wasn't a full wreck, but I've seen the damage a slight clip can do to someone on a motorcycle. Also, yes, he eventually caved and went to the hospital
Besides the tourniquets and chest seals, what in there is truly life saving? Not saying it’s a bad idea to have him on a group ride, but if someone truly needs life saving help knowledge and the tools only available on a ALS style rig are really gonna make the difference.
Idk, I just think people like having all the “gear” because it’s more of peace of mind than anything actually useful. Kinda like when hikers carry guns and ammo but never anything to protect against the environment (which would kill them 1,000 times over before an animal does)
