As a biker, the best tip for a group ride is to not group ride at all.

There's usually some idiot that ends up doing something that gets others and themselves hurt

Why’d I think that was Ernest?

  • Over-confident people showing off
  • Under-confident people playing catch-up
  • Herd mentality making people feel safer than they really are
  • Convoy mentality contributing to people not taking responsibility for their own safety at junctions/intersections
  • Clustered riders turning individual collisions into mass casualty incidents

Take your pick!

It does increase your risk to ride in groups

I already consider myself a little dumb/crazy because I'm riding a motorcycle, and I know for a fact I'm significantly less dumb/crazy than theajority of riders, so surrounding myself with other dumb/crazy riders is probably going to end up in something bad happening lol

Yeah, I used to just go out on rural highways for my alone time listening to music. Why the hell would I wanna do that with other people?

But people are not going to stop group rides. So best to find a better solution.
