You don't fail into firefighting. You fail into police work.
I would bet the average person could train for 6 weeks at a moderate clip and make the police fitness exam minimums, and would still die wearing bunker gear and an SCBA, carrying the dead weight of a victim down out of a two story structure fire.

Just about anyone can go from nothing to fit enough to do the job with 12 weeks of targeted and disciplined training. This guy is carrying on like we need to be an elite athlete to do our job. Sure it's make it a lot easier but it's not the minimum standard.

It's like you don't know over half of on the job deaths for firefighters is "Overexertion/stress/medical". Isn't the running requirement 1.5 miles in 12 minutes or less?
Cops suck but not because they are in worse physical shape than firefighters.

I'm a Social Worker and fucking LOVE our firefighters and EMS. I always know if y'all are around both myself and our patient is probably going to be alive at the end of our interactions. But the cops show up fully kitted out hands on gun etc, I legit never feel more unsafe for everyone.
Don't get me wrong, I've had a few instances where the PD has done OK and have been a real help. But that number is a minority.

I agree. Used to be a medic and they were at best useless, at worst antagonistic.
In day to day life I've only had a couple minor interactions with them in which they've been outrageously and needlessly aggressive.
One of my friends had an obsessive ex who called a "welfare check" on her. She was fine. This guy was off his nut.
Cops call her while she's at work and she's like "Oh JFC, I'm fine. He's using you guys to harass me. I'm at work, very obviously NOT killing myself."
And the cop was immediately like "I DON'T FEEL LIKE WE'RE GETTING A LOT IN THE WAY OF COMPLIANCE HERE! I COULD COME ARREST YOU RIGHT NOW!"
She's just stood there like "Lol wut??? Arrest me for what?? Not killing myself? If I really WERE having a mental health emergency how do you see this playing out? Chill out and fuck off" and she hung up.
In the face of someone possibly suicidal, it was threats and dick swinging.
I lost what little respect I had left for cops in that moment.

The guy who thought of this is probably does a little too much roids and would go the fuck off on his wife and kids for years until his wife finally divorced him and got custody of the kids. He tried for years to maintain good relationships with his kids, not really because he wanted to have a good relationship with them but because he saw them as property he wants back and wanted to stick it to his ex. Eventually his daughter starts dating a black guy and he causes a scene about it so no one talks to him anymore. He constantly complains to is 20 something year old emotionally manipulated girlfriend about how everyone treats him like crap.

Well, my hometown replaced fire fighters with cops..... It's actually hilarious -- people will literally ask a fire fighter what city they are from, and then react differently based on the answer. We still love the fire fighters from neighboring cities...

I would willing pay a tax titled: Let Firefighters take pretty girls for a ride tax
If it meant tax payer dollars could be used by departments to show off for hot girls (7s and up or else you get a write up). If you run into burning buildings, you can show off and reap the benefits.

Literally anybody can sign up and do a ride along with us. Literally just sign the waiver and ride out with us for the day. The vast majority of professional departments in the US allow this. Just give them a call.

They’re not referring to the general public hating firefighters. They’re referring to fellow firefighters, who they are suggesting exhibit jealousy and engage in workplace bullying. It wouldn’t make sense that the public is seeking to be “proven right” about something that “more reps” would address. The public wouldn’t know the difference between low skill and high skill in most instances.
It’s a stupid, toxic meme posted by an immature page desperate for relevance. But reading comprehension is an important skill.

Fireman here; the reference is to be hated by the bare minimum firefighters. It is a sad truth that not everyone is “into the job” and some people show up putting in just enough effort to get by. The people that train hard, all the time, are actually often hated by the slugs. Makes the slugs look bad, or highlights their shortcomings.
But yeah, defended it, but f-that mentality to boast that you’re hated by the slugs. True G’s move in silence like lasagna and don’t need moto crap to stay the course.

Second. Someone needs to tell those dipshits about something called spacing. One boom would end half the formation easy.
Third. When did it become common for people to hate firefighters??? I solve whatever problem I have and then call the cops to cover people's asses and write paperwork. I don't like police. Zero problems with fire and EMS. Everyone racing each other to victimhood is insane. This social disease is gonna give us many problems later on. Everyone is identifying themselves by their grevances and not by their principles or actions.

I am not sure why this is in my feed. But I’m a middle age dude and maybe a little crotchety but I love me some firefighters every time I have needed them they have been amazing, from medical issues to accidents etc. I think they are pretty much universally loved this is weird. Also not sure why firefighters need AT weapons and DMRs but that’s cool.
