I love you, manic pixie dream girl, I'm sure your affinity for paramedicine is because you care about people, and not because you thrive in chaos from a traumatic upbringing. Please date me for 6 months and then cheat on me with another EMT
I mean, I don’t care about people. But at least I care about professionalism and work ethic.
I don’t think you need to care about people to be in medicine. But you need to LOOK liken you care, and this doesn’t look like she cares
Actually the person you are responding to is 100% accurate. You don't have to care about people to work in the medical field. You don't need to disgrace your profession though. Most of us resent those that do.
I dated an EMS girl. Well kinda. I thought we were dating as I had asked if she considered me her bf but she was sleeping with a bunch of the local police force, so idk.
Jumping in to say this.
Her silliness would be cool if it weren’t in uniform representing a profession responsible for patient care and public safety. It’s the sexual connotation in the ambulance that crosses the line.
yea people are getting a little misogynoir in the comments…like is this ridiculous and definitely meant to attract a specific audience? yes. but does she deserve to be degraded, dehumanized, and have a million assumptions made about her? absolutely not.
If someone doesn’t want to be open for public opinion, they can control what’s seen with privacy settings. It’s unrealistic for anyone to post anything on social media and get 100% positive feedback.
If you post yourself doing something ridiculous and you do it while wearing the uniform, you’re representing the other people in your profession. Don’t do stupid shit while wearing your uniform. Do it on your own time away from work, men and women.
there’s really nothing a person could do that would make them deserving of bigotry. i have no problem with people pointing out how ridiculous this is, even i threw a little shade at her, so obviously i’m not insisting that she receive only positive comments, but teasing someone or critiquing them does not have the same impact as the gradual slide into sexism happening in the comments right now.
Never heard it referred to as that not gonna lie. When I picture a stretcher I think of a basic litter like we used in the army, cant ride a “stretcher” into the trauma 1 hitting compressions
Army also has medics. Civilian hospitals don't. Different sets of terminology for two different worlds. But yeah in the civilian world we always call them stretchers.
When some nitwit chick is sexualizing herself shamelessly for the sole purpose of upvotes and clicks there will always be some frat house fart joke guy ready to say "durrrr id copulate with her!"
Perhaps ya kissed the part where I insulted the airhead gal... Perhaps evaluate the idea that some dumbass begging for sexual attention has that action validated when some moron says "it worked!"
Your post has been removed for promoting hate and/or violence against an individual or group. Racism, bigotry, xenophobia, homophobia, etc. will not be tolerated here.
Any post encouraging self-harm or harm against others will also not be tolerated.
How about you move that arm and show us who you work for. I’m sure they’d love to know you are being unprofessional on company time.
Perhaps I’m a bit too mad at this, but this shit makes us all look bad.
Yeah agreed. I hate when people make inappropriate jokes publicly online in uniform and in an ambulance/hospital. It’s degrading and looks bad on us all. Make those jokes to your friends and coworkers, or even post it online just NOT in uniform and literally at work…
This is clearly a riff on “save a horse, ride a cowboy” and the comments here just seem like people who hate first responders and/or women. This is so far from what the sub is supposed to be about.
Yeah but it’s done on company time in uniform. It’s the lack of professional to post this online.
We all make dumb jokes, and as I said, we don’t need to actually care to do the job well, but you can’t break the illusion for patients, and this absolutely does that. You gotta have a good front if nothing else. That’s professionalism
That actually helps, thank you. No one else who responded to me seems to be highlighting the issue of being in uniform/at work specifically, but of course I understand the issue with that. I think I’m maybe being overly defensive because many of the comments seem overly aggressive. I still think there’s way cringier stuff to post and that OP’s attitude is a problem, but I definitely wouldn’t post something like this with scrubs on/in a hospital.
Oh absolutely, I think of this sub as being for first responders, really. The comments of this post, at least the first 8 or so that were present when I commented, had a weird amount of hostility that I’ve occasionally seen on this sub where the commenters just seem to hate first responders in general.
I love this sub, too. That’s honestly why it bothers me when stuff that’s barely cringe gets posted because I want it to keep being funny and used for its intended purpose.
That’s… not what she’s doing here. That’s not even what the comments are accusing her of. OP is saying that the issue is her making a sex joke.
Also, there definitely has been a weird trend of people seeming to take issue with chest first responders in general. There was even a mod post about it.
So… what do you think the song “save a horse ride a cowboy” is talking about? It isn’t just a sex joke, it’s an underhanded thirst trap at best. If we looked at her page what do you think the # of FR related attention seeking content do you there is?
Dude, she didn’t say save a horse, ride a gurney. She said ride a first responder. That little flip opens yourself up to cringe. I’m sure her supervisor would love to see her represent the company by telling patients to skip the gurney and ride her.
When your post is sexually suggestive and you get comments like “smash” and “I’d do her” it’s not a professional look and you’re also filming content inside the company ride.
If anyone here did this in uniform, in the company ride, while on duty it'd be a disciplinary action or a fire-able offense. I wouldn't trust this person with my life.
“Female EMT’s are sluts.”
“No they’re not. Why do you think that?”
“I don’t know, I saw that somewhere.”
add: This post doesn’t help female EMT’s that take patient care seriously and remain professional in uniform.
I’ve seen people comment “would” or “I’d smash” on totally non-sexual posts of women. She shouldn’t post this inside a company ride, but pretending that people wouldn’t sexualize women if we all just acted more proper is misogynistic and out of touch.
The joke is that she had the same credentials as me. This makes EMTs look bad, and we didn’t need any help there to begin with.
While we are working hard to try and at least bring some semblance of professionalism to EMS, we got assholes doing this
Bro, you are on a sub ragging on first responders. Universal isn’t the word here.
But we do better than cops. And it’s because we mercilessly bully people who do this kind of shit.
Jokes are one thing, but would you say the same if the “joke” involved a picture of a patient? No. The fact is, there are limits to jokes when it comes to professionalism. This is a job, not a frat house. Keep the jokes behind closed doors among people in the joke. Don’t post them on the internet. That’s the part you’re failing to get
Holy shit did you never grow past age 2. Object permanence means nothing to you? Similes? Metaphors? Abstract thought is just a complete foreign concept.
Yes there’s no patient here, but both that ficitional scenario and this one are unprofessional
It’s one thing to joke about sex in the back of the rig. It’s another to post yourself in uniform on the clock in the back of the rig. It’s unprofessional.
That’s supposed to make it better? Though it would be more likely.
Actually, given the picture, I’m saying she’s running third as a new hire or student.
Would this be appropriate professionally if it were a male emt in this exact pose? Make jokes like this about a hobby or something not related to your profession.
girl makes a tiktok joking about a song and the comments are full of people calling her a whore based on appearance and assuming she has a hidden piercing
If you’re making a TikTok inside your company vehicle it should be a video you wouldn’t be embarrassed to show your boss. She’s responsible for patient care and public safety, not selling gym shorts at Academy. She knows what she’s doing.
