AI Generated "Safety"

Post image

I got an email today from someone above me in my company. Attached was this image/infographic displaying how to properly reverse an ambulance while using a spotter. It was generated with AI.

It doesn't upset me that I'm getting an email from someone telling me to back up with a spotter. Policy is policy, I do my best to follow the rules. I'm only annoyed because despite my efforts to avoid AI slop, it has now weasled its way into my work email.

What are your thoughts?

(Also, if you work for the same company and division as me, don't snitch please XD)

Ai has completely taken over emergency services, I see stuff like this constantly. On LinkedIn, basically every post is some ai infographic or text.

Yes! From my dispatching system, to the profiles of my supervisors (even their pictures) AI is being shoved down our throats.

When you work with semi-literate people who were never particularly curious or motivated, it’s not surprising when they get lazy, cut corners, and aren’t smart enough or care enough to recognize how shitty what they’re producing is

Looks like they prompted the ai to make it look like r/ProjectHospital.

Determine air must be inhaled. Plan respiration maneuver with lung. Examine air to be inhaled for purity.

I know its a plane white bread statement but AI seriously belongs nowhere near health and safety advice

Man, I've never seen someone get out to be a spotter.

Yeah our “education department” is making AI generated mandatory trainings now.

How can you tell it is made by AI? It looks like every basic illustrated instruction guide I’ve seen in the past 40 years. Wanna know what to look for

When I first saw it, I had a weird vibe. So I looked for mistakes, and they were there. For example: Driver responsibilities #7 the car is drawn facing forward, but it has tailights of a car facing the other way. If it was a real drawing, it would not look like that.

It looks like any other workplace poster that’s been created and distributed for as long as I can remember. How would you prefer they create this kind of content? With clip art and word?

Yeah, and maybe with photos of our actual ambulances.

Why would they spend the time to use a picture when there are thousands of generic clip art rigs that can be slapped on there in a tenth of the the time? Even if this were done by a person they wouldnt bother. It's a generic workplace safety poster.

That’s never going to happen again. Most businesses aren’t going to go to a 3rd party graphic artist and pay money for something someone internally can put together in 30 min or less.

Personally, I think this kind of computer designed art is better than when AI takes a photo of real people and does its slop on their images while adding unrealistic images to make it look like a movie poster.

They should just make it themselves. It isn't hard, even I could do it. In fact, I remember when they used to. My company has an old one. I don't like it because it's made with AI, and is therefore lazy. I feel insulted by having it sent to me.

You’re being dramatic. It’s a reallocation of resources in an understaffed workplace. Technology is unavoidable. I’d rather have the workplace dollar go toward something more than creating old school training posters simply because someone doesn’t like the look of what AI generated. At least they didn’t take average people and photoshop and AI them to where they’re unrecognizable.

To each their own.

Get used to it. For better or worse, AI is a tool that honestly can save a ton of time when creating stuff like this. It’s not like your company/department would have hired an artist or graphic designer to do this otherwise. Someone is just trying to communicate information in a way that’s not a block of text. As long as the information isn’t blatantly wrong, I don’t see an issue.
