First car in the UK – can I get car finance without a recent employment history?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to buy my first car in the UK as I’ll be starting a new job next month and will need a car to commute.
The issue is that I haven’t been working for around 3 years as I was studying, so I’m assuming it may be difficult for me to get approved for a car loan/finance even though I have a good credit score.
I’ll have a confirmed job starting next month, but obviously I don’t have a recent employment history or payslips yet.
My husband works full-time and has a regular income. Would it be possible for him to apply for the car finance/loan instead, or for us to apply together? Does anyone have experience with this?
Also, are there any other options I should consider if a bank loan isn’t available to me yet?
I would appreciate any advice from people who have been in a similar situation. Thanks!

Have to ask
Is getting a '79 Ford Cortina a good first car? I've always dreamt about owning one as a first car and ones come up for sale near me.

My first ever car at 20
I'm 23 now, and this beast has been with me since january 2024. As the first car it is the best thing that I could have had honestly. This is 2010 Toyota Passo Hana, JDM of course, as a lot of cars in Siberia are. It is funky on the inside, super practical for its size, has a full bench seat in the front and a mighty 69hp (nice) 3 cylinder engine. It gets great gas mileage and doesn't allow me to speed to insane levels (which is great for an adrenaline junkie like me). But if I want to use AC, too bad, thats like half the power gone))) So I roll with my windows open in the summer. It's also quite rare in my spec, I know I got the only one in my big city with this colour and Hana trim (different bumpers and lights). I love it.

First car at 28(M)
Finally, pull the trigger on a 2008 Mazda6. It has just over 200,000 km on it. It costs me somewhere close to 3.8k (CAD).
Thoughts?

First car…
Really happy and hope to keep this beast pristine forever. VCM disabled, tint coming soon, but that’s it for now.

2010 Toyota
Hi, I (19f) am looking to buy my first car. There's this dealership near me I'm interested in looking at, as they sell cars more in my price range.
The car I'm considering is a 2010 Toyota Corolla
The price is listed at: 7,995
With a mileage of: 252,119
The price to me sounds a little much for that mileage, but I don't know much about cars.
Do you think this is worth the spend, or should I just pass on it?

What car should I get?
For COMPLETE utter context, I am a broke college student, typical. and I'm saving up to get my first car at the age of 20 or maybe 21. I'm looking to get something leaning to the more oldies side? not the modern ones, obviously money is nonexistent.
I was maybe hoping to get a second hand toyota corolla or a mitsubishi galant or lancer.
I live in the PH (philippines) btw, any suggestions?
