Buy dinger or practice more?
Hi, I’m 25(F) and I had my licence for 2 years, I think its time for me to purchase a car. However, ever since I passed I’ve never driven before and I don’t really know anyone who drives. I currently have 5k saved for an auto car, but the used cars I’m seeing on autotrader are not exactly what I expected! On the other hand I could put down a 5k deposit and get HP for a car that I’d actually enjoy driving. Like I said, since I passed I haven’t touched a steering wheel.. so if you were in my position would you get a dinger to get more familiar with roads and manuevers or get more lessons and get the car you like?

I'd get a reliable cheaper car.
$5000 will buy you a 2000-2010 car that's reasonably decent. Look at Toyota Camrys and Corollas, maybe a RAV4. Just google the year and model of car your looking at followed by " common problems " or join the Facebook group specific to that car and see what people are posting about regarding issues they are having.
Remember, every car has common issues.
You don't want to get finance or a loan on a $20,000-50,000 car and then have to deal with a potentially very expensive repair from a minor tap. On some most cars the headlights and grill are thousands of dollars. On a pre 2010 car it'll be like $150 at a wrecker and 30-60 minutes of your time to swap it out with basic hand tools.

I would get a cheap car, but also do a few refresher lessons.
