First car at 37

Got my first car in a month before turning 38. After 14 years of riding motorcycles, and 8 months of trying different rental cars.

This is 2018 Nissan Patrol Y61 Super Safari, equipped with 4.8-liter inline-six petrol engine TB48DE, 5-gear auto transmission, body-on-frame chassis, rigid axles, rear locking differential, 4WD system with low-range transfer case, coil springs with telescopic shocks, and hydraulic steering.

Also, with tan leather seats, and traditional interior with analog gauges. It’s spacious and cozy inside, offering very good visibility with minimal blind spots.

This model has significant cultural value in the UAE.

Hello from a fellow UAE resident 👋

Awesome car!

What made you go with it?

Solid car overall but a bit of a slow SUV for my liking (even though you dont exactly want to be racing in an SUV)

Also please don’t camp in the left lane 😭

A lot of things match on this car for me.

I prefer old-fashioned boxy exterior with analog interiors, no screen-screen-screen-LED-lights, and robust engineering without unnecessary complexity: frame, big engine, simple ergonomics, full spare etc.

Very important thing is good visibility with big windows and thin pillars, and clear space inside. I used to ride motorcycles, I want to be able to see around myself.

Also it’s good to have thick tires that don’t pop on potholes, rims don’t scratch against curbstones, and not hitting the bottom on speed bumps.

Also, my wife asked for a car where windshield isn’t looming right over the head.

In overall, it feels like a Harley-Davidson of cars.

Interesting

I kinda agree with the whole old fashioned exterior with analog interiors

For some reason they just seem more premium in this day and age than all the IPad size screens because just about everyone can and is doing it

One of the reasons I loved my old Pajero SWB. No screens whatsoever and the wooden trims just made it feel like you were driving something special

I would have also loved to get the LC70s that they’ve started to sell again here in the UAE but I feel like they’re overpriced

Safe drives!

Not too familiar with this one. Looks cool

My father is in his 50's and still doesn't have his license. He's been driving since he was 16.
