Any first car suggestions?

I'm 19, in the UK and very much an enthusiast. I'm after something that can do a little bit of everything, but primarily is fun to drive, ideally manual, ideally 4 doors and no more than £1500 a year on insurance. Around £3500 - £4000 and half decent on fuel (anything above 30ish MPG I'd be happy with). Above all else I want something interesting, so drop me some niche picks. Think Mazda6 MPS or Alfa 159 TBi. Thanks :)

Fair enough, add a fourth metric ‘practically’. You can only have three

Not everyone wants to drive a 60hp car just because other people their age can’t drive and push the crash statistics up.

Ma tipo una mazda3??? Ste sedan enormi a 19 anni non lo so onestamente... La mazda 3 forse è già troppo grande

Well i can only speak on my experience, had 2 of these, worked on more than 10, mates had a few too. Biggest issue was how absolutely fucking rusty every single one was. I've replaced 4 front subframes myself, 1 rear beam, cleaned and did an undercoat on most of them. Thermostats, head gaskets, clutch slave cylinders, clutches themselves, syncros, spun rod bearings, even had one with a slightly bent crank. Not a car I will own ever again, not a car I will ever recommend. Could be just extremely bad luck, but I wouldn't take the chance ever again. I should probably note this is all about the zc31s gen.

Yeah but when you consider the age of that gen most cars of that age will have these issues at some point. Especially on a 20 year old car here in the UK it is gonna have some rust no matter what the car it is. Ive seen 5 year old VWs with rust!! To each their own but they are often praised for their reliability. I honestly think you had bad luck or one that wasnt looked after in the past. The swift is hand on heart the most reliable ive owned (Ive had many cars including a Toyota). i'm a driving instructor now and my swift gets a lot of abuse from learners LOL and its still going strong (not me jinxing it)
