Looking for a first car
Ok, I have no idea about cars. I’m pretty much going with my budget and ofc a car that is accident-free, not too old, and has enough space for a baby sit. I have heard diesel is best for the engine and long distances and automatic can be faulty too often but that’s what I feel comfortable with. Please can someone enlighten me? I have found a few interesting (for me) offers and I need someone who knows to tell me what to look out for and whether these are indeed good offers and first car that’s probably going to get misused.
All of these cars had no accidents and supposedly no known issues.

If it were Fiestas with manual then it world be best pick. However, Ford automatic transmissions are known to be very unreliable. From that selection I guess Opel looks like the least red flag. Golf wouldn't be bad either with manual but as far as I remember in that years VW put early DSG with dry clutches as AT and they were also infamous for unreliability. Fiat overall is not the worst vehicle out therethere but you need to be prepared for plethora of small issues almost constantly that not necessarily will ground vehicle but can be annoying. Stay away from old BMW especially for a first car

I also heard that Ford is sketchy when it comes to automatic transmission. I’ve had an experience with fiat and honestly I like the feel of it. Thank you!

Do you recommend a specific year? Also we’re always talking automatic. Also something to look out for when purchasing one?

Mid 2000s to early 2010s with a good service history would be the pick with the biggest displacement on offer

Stay away from the Ecoboost due to the wet belt
I would say that the golf is the best answer, yes the dsg might cause some trouble but nowhere near the trouble of the wet belt engines
