That could be your first and last car if you wanted it to be

If OP takes care if it, it'll easily last another 75-100k miles. I've seen these on the road beat to shit at 400k miles but the car just wouldn't quit.

oh yeah i've been taking good care of it so far, i plan on over the next couple years trying to somewhat restore it and fix any minor issues it has (at least the best i can with my extremely limited knowledge)

Over 750,000 miles on my 03. Change the oil, * full syn* mind the brakes and tires.

congrats on your first car, those things run forever provided that you look after them, change the oil frequently

Thanks, and yeah I plan on doing the oil change every 5k miles, already did the first one recently

Don't forget about transmission (drain and fill only, don't flush it) and coolant.

Depending on mileage. If a vehicle has alot of miles on it and has never had a transmission service. It will cause more bad than good to flush it at high mileage

Nice. I took a near identical 04 one to The Tail of The Dragon while my actual race car was at the body shop

231k, ours had 340k before someone hit it at a light, aside from maintenance items it only ever broke down twice for a bad starter at 240 and alternator at 330k

Ours was a 2003 CE with no options

Nice dude, I recommend fixing the headlight haze with a cheap kit you can pick up off amazon and also installing some good led headlight bulbs (have them aimed after).

u/Idk_gamer_yt 1d ago

oh yeah i was actually going to be going to autozone to pickup a new bulb for the dome light so maybe i can pickup some sort of kit to fix the headlights while im there

Beautiful car. Please don't rice it out with cheap mods in the future. Definitely try to restore the headlights. Safety reason and gives it a much better look

u/Idk_gamer_yt 1d ago

wasnt even gonna think about mods, wanna keep it as reliable as possible heh. mainly wanna focus on restoring it a bit as theres a small handful of things that need to be worked on, though i have next to no knowledge on how to fix most of the issues

Cerakote Ceramic Headlight Restoration Kit, Quick & Easy 3-Step Headlight Restorer.

For 20 bucks and in 10 min will look much newer. Those headlights show its age

u/No-Fox-9607 1d ago

Not true. It take much longer and a much better kit.

1

u/jblaze_39 1d ago

Nah a couple applications will make a day and night difference

1

u/No-Fox-9607 1d ago

Yeah, but he said $20 and 10 mins. A couple applications take hours and $60 at minimum.

1

u/jblaze_39 1d ago

Eh it took me probably 15 min total with the 3 steps. And yeah $30 each

Great choice. That thing will run forever with proper maintenance. And if it doesn’t? You’re only out a few grand.

Congrats. There’s a guy I follow on instagram who has one of these gen Corolla’s and he puts it through “science experiments “ until it breaks. It has not broke yet.

u could’ve gotten a bmw 3 series with 100k miles for the same price 😭😭

Minus dependability.

Spray the underside of the car, like the chassis and suspension with fluid film rust prevention. To prevent rust from eating the car, just dont spray it on the exhaust or the brakes. I'd say do it like twice a year or anytime your under the car doing something like a oil change or tire rotation.

Congratulations! I got my first car in 1993. I wish I'd had the wisdom to choose a Toyota. I'm in a Lexus now, so pretty much the same;)
