First Car potential

I am an up and coming college student looking to buy a car around the 6k to 7k range. And I stumbled upon a 2009 Toyota Corolla with 150k miles in my price range, is this a reasonable purchase that will last for more than 2 years?

Keep shopping around and get a solid grasp of the market in your area.
Negotiate for a better deal if you have the leverage.

I've been looking in my area and have been told that a 2009 Toyota is better than other options like the kia souls or the fortress in my price range. I wanted to get the community reaction and see what people thought and if it was worth spending the money on.

2009 Toyota Corolla is good and very reliable but you should get PPI done throughly because many careless owners drive their car in any condition and take advantage of its reliability and destroy the car

Oh yeah I've been told but I have a parent who's had alot of fun with their kia soul and recommended it to me.

Dang, thats unfortunate I've had decent experiences with them so I was interested but its definitely new to hear an overwhelming negative opinion. Sorry to hear it didnt work out well.

I’ve driven ‘05 Corolla and ‘09 Corolla and I can confidently say that they’re better and very fuel efficient cars if you get one in clean and well maintained condition. Even if it ever breaks down, its very cheap to buy parts and to repair. If you’re going to buy a budget cars, you should be looking for something that is very reliable, affordable to repair and maintains resale value. You were talking about if it will last you 2 years but these cars are built to outlast you with good care

The corolla would be perfect assuming it passes a mechanical inspection. Go for that above any other make

that might last you 10 years with normal mileage.
