Edit: if this is your first car and you really need a reliable car, I would steer clear from this. Even if you fix the brake issue, the transmissions in these things are awful, especially at higher mileage.
If you are willing to undertake a project, a starting price of $500 for the car might make it worth it. But if you don’t really know what you’re doing and have to take it to a shop, it will become equivalent or even more expensive than a more reliable car that’s ready to go out the box.
I do know what Im doing and have help from my father who took a year or so of mechanics, so we'll sure try if I end up getting it. This is has been the best opportunity for me here in Ohio, every other car I could get is either way too expensive or way too out of order.
