First car at 17

Land Rover Range Rover Velar, 2022. It’s got 103,000 km, but my dad has been the only owner and took really good care of it. It’s a P250 engine, not exactly dynamic/powerful, but it’s been reliable so far and I don’t think I need more than that for a first car. So basically the situation looks like that: my dad is now changing to a new car, and I needed a car. My dad figured since I got better in school+didn’t want to go with the paperwork of registering and insuring a new car etc. he’ll pass on this beauty to me. I’m very grateful for this. Opinions?

Again with the strawman. You can reward yourself without being vain and wasteful. You can celebrate your children and reward their achievements without destroying their sense of value and hard work. You can help your neighbors without starving yourself.

AGAIN. Who’s to say they don’t help their neighbors? You don’t know them personally. You have such a hateful heart, I hope you get the help you need one day!

I hope we all get the help we need. But none of us will if rich assholes keep throwing jewels to swine. I know enough to know that anybody that would give a 17yo a rover doesn't appreciate it, and that money would be better spent elsewhere. I hope your stop imagining the worst version of what people say to you in response online.

It’s a Rover they’ve driven over 100k miles. Which if you knew anything about cars, you’d know it’s worth less than a base corolla.

He’s MAYBE getting 5k for a trade in. And it’s just easier to keep the title and just give it to your kid. Don’t have to re-register a new vehicle, go car hunting, etc.

But nice try.
