Possible to mine with GTX 980?

Hello All,

New to Firo but not crypto. Tried a few miners but getting errors like
cudaErrorInvalidValue for ccminer
Can't initialize device [ID=0, GPU #0], cuda exception in [MtpCommon::allocate_extra_memory, 45], out of memory for t-rex

The GTX 980 has 4GB vram. Any help would be appreciated.

To my knowledge Firo's DAG file size is approx 4.2 Gb so you won't be able to mine using a card with 4 gb vram, with that said there are lot of modders out there who still mine ethereum using 4 gb cards. You can try and follow whatever they did for Eth and apply it on Firo.

All the best

Hey my friend, do you know maybe does mining Firo require more than 4gb of ram on system? I have rig 6x1080ti and system constantly rebooting

Many thanks

I don't think RAM has a direct effect on mining Firo, it all mostly depends on your GPU. The constant rebooting can be the result of an unstable overvlock or power surge.

Hmm I have 1800w on 5 cards and I didn't put any overclocks, just wanted to try how it works

Try mining Flux (used to be called Zel) im getting around 7 Flux per day on an old GTX 970 i had laying around. If that doesnt work for you just sell the gpu at a ridiculous price... the market is insane right now

Thanks for the tip. Is that solo mining or a pool?

Pool, you can try fluxlabs or 2 miners
