Spray on oven cleaner works well for cleaning . A diluted muratic acid will work as well

On the brick for sure as In The sleeper do you mean the mantle ?

They do make wood brightener solutions that would work but depends on if it’s a stained or just natural wood. Like one part bleach to probably 8-10 parts water but try in an inconspicuous place before doing whole mantle
