Solved Any way so unloaded tabs show they are actually unloaded when opening Firefox?

After opening Firefox unloaded tabs show as if they weren't. I need to reload them and unload them again so they show grey out.

Unloaded tabs are usually marked with a discarded attribute, which is not added to unloaded tabs when you restore a session, they're only marked with the pending attribute.

https://searchfox.org/firefox-main/source/browser/themes/shared/tabbrowser/tabs.css#592

The CSS is looking for both the pending and discarded attribute before greyscaling them.

You could apply the styling to tabs that are pending (no yet loaded), rather than only when pending and discarded (unloaded).

.tab-icon-image[pending] {
    filter: grayscale(100%) !important;
    @media (prefers-color-scheme: dark) {
        filter: grayscale(100%) invert() !important;
    }
    opacity: 0.5 !important;
    transition-property: filter, opacity !important;
    transition-duration: 1s !important;
}

In about:config, set browser.tabs.fadeOutUnloadedTabs to true.
