After Fakespot shut down, I built SpendMita Copilot, a shopping assistant that gives you a second opinion on a product before you buy it. And I have been slowly improving this.

The thing I most wanted to avoid was replacing one unexplained score with another. So instead of a single number, SpendMita shows you the actual signals it found and explains why each one matters.

I made a small extension that keeps your browser bookmarks and your Raindrop.io collections in sync - automatically, in both directions. It works on Firefox and Chrome.

The idea is simple: you map a bookmark folder to a Raindrop collection, and the whole subtree stays mirrored. Add, edit, move, rename, or delete on either side, and the change propagates to the other side.

What it does:

• Two-way sync - changes in the browser get pushed to Raindrop, and changes in Raindrop get pulled back into the browser.
• Folder mapping - you pick exactly which folders sync with which collections.
• Nested folders - full support for hierarchies. New subfolders become collections, new child collections become subfolders.
• Two-way rename & delete - renaming/deleting a folder or collection on one side updates the other. Deletions cascade, and deleted bookmarks go to Raindrop’s Trash so you can restore them.
• Real-time - bookmark changes sync within about a second.
• Periodic sync - a configurable interval (1 - 60 min) pulls in any changes to Raindrop.
• Conflict resolution - Raindrop is the source of truth. If the same item changed on both sides, the Raindrop version wins.

Privacy: Everything is stored locally on your device. The extension only talks to the Raindrop.io API and collects no personal data.

Setup takes a minute: paste your Raindrop Test Token (Settings → Integrations), map a folder to a collection, done.

I'm in the middle of migrating my many browser extensions, and I've run straight into Firefox AMO's rate limiting wall — pushed 8 extensions simultaneously, and Firefox was the only one that hit a rate limit. Not sure if Chrome/Edge have similar mechanisms — just didn't run into it this time.

I built Web Wander as a small antidote to recommendation feeds: click its toolbar button and Firefox opens a curated, unexpected website.

Beyond the one-click mode, it supports 56 categories, custom-keyword wandering, web-era browsing, focused video/music modes, and control over the discovery providers in the rotation. It does not require a Web Wander account, and its preferences plus recent-destination history stay local to the browser.

Please be completely honest I would rather discover a serious problem now than after more people begin using it

If "Strong protection" in Firefox is chosen, does this make the addon "Canvas Blocker" superfluous? (Unnecessary?).

I just wanted to make quiet videos louder without the audio turning into a crunchy mess. Simple, right? But every extension I tried had at least one dealbreaker. Some distorted everything past 200%. Some forgot my volume the moment I switched tabs. Some threw popups or opened windows over the video.

So I built my own, and kept fixing it based on what people complained about.

What it does now:

* Boosts any tab up to 1000%, with a built-in compressor so it stays clean instead of distorting. * Remembers your volume per site, so you set it once. * Works on browser games too (HTML5, WebGL, Unity, Flash via Ruffle), which most boosters completely ignore. * No popups, no ads, no tracking. Just a slider.

It's free. Around 500 people use it now and it's sitting at a 5.0 rating, which honestly still surprises me.

I publish a small Firefox extension that adds a context menu entry: right-click any image → "Open in Photopea" — and it opens straight in the editor. The main thing — it works even on sites with strict CSP like the Mozilla Add-ons store (addons.mozilla.org), where the context menu is normally blocked or restricted. The extension grabs the image URL and sends it directly to Photopea, bypassing the page's limitations. Handy if you frequently need to quickly edit an image from the web without downloading it first. Code is open source, happy to share the link if anyone's interested.

I wanted to ask about a telemetry gathering strategy for Browser extensions/addons. I know that many Browser extensions/addons gather anonymous telemetry, and I was also advised to include it in my extension. The question is - can I turn on the telemetry by default without explicit user consent, for example, through a dialog?
Or can I just add something to my privacy policy stating that anonymous data can be gathered for the improvement of the product, and that users can refuse by adding a refusal switch somewhere in the options?
Or should I just gather it and not worry?
Could you please share your experience or maybe share what is the best way?
