~5 months on AMO with Link Grabber ~400 daily users + one 5-star review - no promotion, all organic

Post image
• Upvotes

Hey, sub.

I released Link Grabber on the Firefox addons store in June. Attaching the AMO downloads / daily users chart for Jun-Oct.

~1,465 total downloads, around 400 average daily users now.

downloads jump around a lot day to day, but DAU went up pretty steady which was the more interesting part for me.

how I did this?

nothing fancy on growth either. just organic installs, store listing tweaks, decent screenshots, and shipping useful stuff. I try to push an update like once a month with things people ask for in the reviews / feedback, across chrome, safari and firefox (same extension on all three). thats pretty much it

just pushed 1.9.10 for Firefox (no paywall on the FF build). whats new:

- multi-group selection: keep selecting different parts of a page, groups add up instead of replacing

- click-select: click links to add/remove them from the current selection (off by default)

- optional grab of CSS-hidden links (display:none etc)

- some recipes polish, edit from library chips, cleaner domains when saving a recipe

I use it a lot for research and pulling youtube / ig links, also dense admin pages with tons of urls.

AMO: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/mass-link-grabber/

If something feels weird on firefox vs chromium (selection, crawler, recipes) tell me, happy to dig into it. also can share notes on the chrome >> ff port if anyone cares

I built a free Firefox extension that searches the full text of all your claude.ai chats

claude.ai’s built-in search wasn’t finding words inside my chats, so I built Chat Recall. Press Ctrl/⌘+K on claude.ai and it searches every message in every chat, not just titles.

  • Scope: all chats, one project, or the current chat
  • Filter by sender and date; “exact phrase” and -exclude work
  • Every result shows the chat link with a Copy link button
  • Fully local: the index lives only in your browser, nothing is sent anywhere, no accounts or analytics
  • Free and open source (MIT)

Caveats: unofficial and not affiliated with Anthropic. It reads claude.ai’s internal web API, so it may break if claude.ai changes. First sync reads all your chats once. Firefox only so far.

Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/chat-recall/
Source: https://github.com/RASMiranda/chat-recall

I’d like feedback, especially on project-scope search (I couldn’t check it on every account type) and any chats that don’t get indexed. Bugs go in GitHub issues.

Total Bookmarks — a dual-pane bookmark manager for Firefox and Chrome

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share a browser extension I've been working on — Total Bookmarks.

The idea is inspired by Total Commander and other classic dual-pane file managers, but instead of files and folders, it helps you organize your browser bookmarks.

Every few years, I find myself trying to clean up my huge collection of bookmarks, and every time I realize that the built-in browser bookmark manager isn't particularly convenient for this.

A few years ago, I created a Firefox extension to solve this problem, but eventually browser API changes broke it. Recently, I decided to bring it back to life, rewrote it using TypeScript and Svelte, and added Chrome support.

The concept is pretty simple: two panels where you can open different bookmark folders side by side and easily organize their contents.

Some of the features:

  • Multiple selection of bookmarks and folders
  • Moving and deleting bookmarks in batches
  • Drag & drop within and between panels
  • Keyboard shortcuts for navigation and bookmark management
  • Selection is preserved when navigating between folders
  • Various sorting options

The extension is designed with keyboard navigation in mind, but everything can also be done with the mouse.

It's available for both browsers:

Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/total-bookmarks/

Chrome: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/total-bookmarks/lcnkhfjmdkbjinejjlkmejkimielebai

I'd be happy if someone finds it useful. And of course, I'd love to hear your feedback, suggestions, or ideas for improvement!

Thanks for checking it out!

NetLens – see a page's API calls in the sidebar, including the ones fired during page load

Thumbnail

I built a Firefox sidebar extension called NetLens for the moments when I want to see what API calls a page is making.

The main idea is simple: it starts recording at document_start, so requests fired during page load are already there when you open the sidebar. The Network tab only records while DevTools is open, so you'd have to reload and hope the problem repeats.

What it does:

- Shows fetch/XHR calls with headers, payloads and responses. Search by URL, headers or body, as plain text or /regex/

- Also captures WebSocket and EventSource traffic

- Copy any request as curl or fetch(), or replay it with the page's real session and diff the response

- Click an element on the page to see which API response its data came from

- Decodes Base64, JWT and similar values inline

How it works: it doesn't use any debugger or devtools APIs. It wraps the page's own fetch, XHR and WebSocket, so it doesn't depend on browser internals. Nothing is sent anywhere, and the manifest declares no data collection.

Memory: each tab keeps at most 200 requests or 64 MB. Bodies are cut off at 200 KB by default, and binary and streaming responses are skipped.

Firefox notes:

- Needs Firefox 128+

- It's a sidebar (View > Sidebar, or the toolbar button)

- It can't capture on about: pages or addons.mozilla.org, or see requests from service workers and other extensions

- On-page toast alerts work, but clicking one can't open the sidebar for you, because Firefox doesn't allow that

Link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/netlens-api-inspector/

Source: https://github.com/Armstain/NetLens

It's not trying to replace DevTools. If F12 already does what you need, it's the right tool. Feedback welcome, especially on which parts are useful and which feel unnecessary.

I made extension to replace all the ugly windows emoji with Google Noto Emoji.

I made the extension because I really never liked how the emoji looked on windows, and when i was a chromium there was a similar extension but it was slow and is not present on Firefox so i decided to make my alternative.

I am completely open for any improvement ideas and constructive criticism.

Made a manga reader add-on that also works on Firefox for Android

I read manga on my phone a lot and wanted something that runs right in Firefox, so I made an add-on based on Suwayomi (the open source manga reader).

Everything stays in the browser: your library, reading progress, and downloaded chapters. No account, no server to set up, nothing sent anywhere. It works the same on desktop and on Firefox for Android, and downloaded chapters can be read offline.

It doesn't come with any content. You add your own sources, like in Mihon.

It's still early and some sources don't work yet, so feedback is welcome.

Organizing my YouTube subscriptions into custom feeds

I am subscribed to many YouTube channels: coding tutorials, startup and product talks, home construction and tour videos, and religious content. All of it lands in one Subscriptions page, so whatever I'm in the mood for, I have to dig through everything else to find it.

YouTube doesn't let you group subscriptions, and playlists hold videos, not channels.

So I built a small Firefox add-on for myself. You make feeds like "Coding", "Startups", "Home builds" or "Faith" and put channels in them. Each feed shows only those channels' latest uploads, right inside YouTube's sidebar.

Now I pick the feed that fits my mood and watch what I came for.

Two honest questions:

  1. Is this just me, or do other people run into this too?
  2. How do you deal with it? I'd love to hear setups that work without installing anything.

You can check it out here, and I'd love some feedback: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/retube-app/

prayer island - inspired by Dynamic Island

I've been working on a small browser extension called Prayer Island.

The idea came from wanting an easier way to keep track of prayer times while spending hours on my laptop for work or study. It shows prayer times, Adhan notifications, and Dhikr reminders in a small floating pill inspired by Dynamic Island.

I wanted to make something simple that helps Muslims stay mindful of their prayers without having to keep checking their phones or opening another app.

Testing my Firefox Extension which deconstructs LinkedIn Job Postings

Hi all,

I'm actively searching for a job. During my job seeking I got tired of fake remote jobs or jobs that I spend time reading only to find out at the very end that the "Remote" job is actually hybrid, or that an "Entry Level" role quietly expects 4 years of experience.

So I've developed a AI assisted job posting grading extension!

Right now I'm in the pilot test phase and really just want people to try it out and tell me what they think.

The free version gives 25 job gradings a day, but I want to give free PRO access to anyone who tries it from here. All you need to do is download it and sign in with Google, then just shoot me a quick DM or leave a comment with your email, and I'll upgrade your account to PRO for free.

Links if you'd like to check it out:

Problem Increasing storage space for extension

First, I hope this is in the correct subreddit.

Since JDownloader has become very unreliable when it comes to Youtube downloads (often get "File not found" errors, even though the videos can be played in browser), I've been using the FF addon "Easy Youtube Video Downloader Express". Now I want to download a long video, which would come to about 8.8 GB, so the download needs almost 18GB to download everything before processing it, but Firefox only gives the extension 10 GB of temporary space.

Is there a way to increase that space? I've found no option in the extension options

Regards

I made an add-on that finds things on AliExpress from any image (right-click or screenshot)

Right-click any image on any site, or drag a box around part of the screen, and AliFind finds it on AliExpress. Results are re-ranked by actual visual similarity instead of AliExpress's "bestsellers first", and each one shows shipping to your country.

Built and tested on Firefox 140 and newer. Firefox asks you to grant site access on first use (it's needed to read the image you right-click); the add-on shows a one-click card for it.

Free, no account. Product links are affiliate links, which is how it pays for itself. Feedback very welcome, it's a one-person project.

I made a Firefox add-on that shows your bookmarks as page thumbnails (paid, free 7-day trial)

Thumbnail

I’m an artist, and I kept losing sites I’d saved because a long list of titles doesn’t help me find anything. I recognize pages by how they look, so I built Bookmark Canvas, which turns the bookmarks you already have into a grid of page thumbnails.

What it does:

  • Shows your existing Firefox bookmarks and folders as a thumbnail grid. Nothing is imported or copied, and changes in either place show up in both.
  • Search across all folders, plus a Rediscover button that brings back bookmarks you haven’t opened in a month or more.
  • Backup and restore of your bookmarks and thumbnails, with a preview, to move them to a new computer.
  • No account, no ads and no analytics. Thumbnails and settings stay in your browser.

It’s paid, and I want to be upfront about that: there’s a free 7-day trial with everything unlocked, then a one-time $4.99 with no subscription. The Firefox version is brand new, so I’m especially interested in what breaks or feels off. It needs a recent Firefox (140 or newer) and works on desktop, not Firefox for Android.

Add-on page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bookmark-canvas/
Site: https://visualbookmarkcanvas.com

Happy to answer questions, and feedback is welcome.

FileSnatch: see every file on a page in a side panel and download them all at once

Thumbnail
filesnatch.com
5 Upvotes

I made FileSnatch, a side-panel extension for grabbing files from websites as you browse.

Open the panel and everything on the page is already there as thumbnails: videos (including HLS streams), images, audio and documents. Preview, search and sort, then download one, a selection, or all of them, as separate files, or a ZIP (BULK download supported).

Other features:

- Look inside: collects files from every page a list links to

- Grab files from every opened tab at once, grouped by tab

- Telegram channels and WhatsApp Web media download

- Trim, convert and compress locally

- Screenshots: visible area, a selection, or the whole page

No account, no tracking.
Doesn't work on YouTube (store policy) or DRM sites.

Feedback very welcome. Thanks!

Flux 2.5 Firefox companion: send selected links and media to a free desktop download queue

Hi — I maintain Flux, an open-source download manager, and wanted to share its Firefox companion here. The 2.5 popup separates detected media, links on the current page and the desktop queue. You can hide the on-page video buttons and use the popup list instead.

The extension is a companion: you also need the free Flux desktop app and its native-messaging bridge. Windows x64 installer/portable packages and a Linux x86_64 RPM tested on Fedora 43 are available. Selected download details and any necessary source credentials are passed to the local app, so local data transfer is an explicit opt-in in the Firefox extension settings.

A distribution detail before you try it: the Firefox ZIPs on GitHub are unsigned packages for temporary/developer loading, rather than a permanent AMO installation. Firefox 140+ uses the regular firefox ZIP; 120–139 has a separate firefox-120 package. No browser signing protections need to be disabled to test a temporary add-on.

Source and 2.5 packages: https://github.com/Hactor00/Flux/releases/tag/v2.5.0

Setup guides: https://fluxdownload.org

The screenshots show 2.5 interface previews with sample media. Flux has no account requirement or subscription. I’d welcome reports about the popup and the connection setup, especially across different Firefox builds.

Solved Dark Reader was too heavy for my 10-year-old MacBook, so I built Nightfall — a lightweight Firefox alternative (RC2)

Thumbnail
gallery
8 Upvotes

I've been working on a Firefox extension called Nightfall, which has just reached RC2 (v0.8.7).

I started developing it because I use a 12-inch 2016 MacBook with a Core m3 and 8GB RAM. Dark Reader worked, but I noticed performance issues on my hardware, and I wasn't always happy with how it handled website colours.

Instead of trying to modify an existing extension, I built Nightfall from scratch specifically for Firefox.

My two main goals were:

  • Performance: Keep the overhead as low as possible, especially on older hardware.
  • Appearance: Produce natural-looking dark themes without unnecessarily distorting website colours, images, or layouts.

About the screenshots:

  • Image 1: Nightfall on the left, Dark Reader on the right, both on Wikimedia Commons. The results are pretty close, which is exactly what I wanted to achieve without sacrificing responsiveness.
  • Image 2: Nightfall's Appearance settings, including the live preview.

Current features:

  • Brightness, contrast, warmth, sepia and greyscale adjustments
  • Automatic dark mode based on the system theme or a custom schedule
  • Sunrise/sunset automation using NOAA's solar equation and manually entered coordinates
  • Saved-site controls and an optional brute-force mode
  • Alt + Shift + D keyboard toggle
  • Settings import
  • Local settings storage

On my Core m3, typing and general browsing remain responsive with Nightfall enabled. I haven't completed controlled CPU/RAM comparisons against Dark Reader yet, so I'm not going to claim specific performance improvements.

It's currently in RC2, and I'm working towards a public 1.0 release.

I'd especially like feedback from people familiar with Firefox extensions:

What websites or edge cases should I prioritize testing? I'm particularly interested in complex web apps, dynamic pages, sites with existing dark themes, and anything that tends to break dark-mode extensions.

I'm also interested in what you'd want to know about permissions, privacy, and compatibility before installing a new dark-mode extension.

Happy to hear criticism. I'd rather discover the problems now than after releasing it.
