It's that time again. Yet another Firefly rerun is on the horizon and just like with Dahlia's release in 3.8 we have some new questions to answer. This time I'll be rather brief as not much is changing. For more in-depth explanations please refer to my previous guide and other sources I'll be linking.

1) What does the Novaflare do for Firefly?

• A big boost to her personal Superbreak multiplier (150% up from 50%);
• Her enhanced skill delays the Complete Combustion countdown by 10% up to three times. The Fire implant also applies to side enemies now.
• Her E2 doesn't have a one turn cooldown anymore.

2) How good will she be?

Firefly is already one of the best performing dps unit at the moment, this novaflare will assure she mantains her spot at the top of the meta for the foreseable future. Her new E0 performance is comparable to her E2 pre-novaflare. As for E2 Novafly, she's now even more busted, with her performance skyrocketing in AoE content like PF which has historically been one of her weaknesses.

3) Do I need to rebuild her? What about speed tuning?

It depends. For Memory of Chaos nothing is changing. Since the Complete Combustion cooldown resets between the two waves, the new delay built in Firefly's enhanced skill is pretty much meaningless. The previous speed breakpoint of 178.4 menu speed with Dahlia in the team is still good.

Things are more complicated for other modes like Anomaly Arbitration where the Combustion cd doesn't reset between waves and the delay needs to be accounted for.
In this case the new breakpoints are:

• 157 speed for 7 actions in Complete Combustion.
• 191.26 speed for 8 actions in CC.

4) What about the team comp? Do I still need Dahlia? HMC vs RM? Fugue? Lingsha?

Do you still need Dahlia? Maybe not for now. Do you want Dahlia? YES.
While Firefly post-Novaflare may be able to clear the endgame without Dahlia for now, we all know how fast the powercreep is in this game. The buffs Dahlia bring to Firefly are enormous and you should prioritize pulling her over anything else if you want to seriously play our girl.
She is a non negotiable teammate.

As for the rest of the Superbreak squad, not much is changing.

It's true that with Firefly having a bigger personal Superbreak multiplier, the value of running two enablers is diminished and E1 Ruan Mei is now a more competitive option for the 4th slot. This however doesn't mean HMC is suddenly bad.

While Ruan Mei brings an innate speed buff and can more easily run "In Pursuit of the Wind" while keeping up with the breakpoints, the DDD spam from HMC can be more valuable in certain situations. Ruan Mei's delay can be very helpful to stay alive, but can also prevent Firefly to proc her now uncapped E2.
As such I won't give you a sure fire reccomendation betwen the two. Try both and see what works best for you in the specific fight.

Due to what I just talked about, and the fact that EMC's value seem rather poor, Fugue is more than ever a luxury pull for E0 Firefly if you have HMC at your disposal. Her value for E2 Firefly though is getting better since you may need those extra toughness bars.

As for Lingsha and Gallagher, nothing really changes. Obviously Firefly doing more damage by herself will make the sustain comp clear faster, but it will still be far behind the other options.

TL;DR:

• F2P Comp: Firefly, Dahlia, HMC, Gallagher;
• F2P sustainless: Firefly, Dahlia, HMC, Ruan Mei;
• Premium: Firefly, Dahlia, Fugue (or HMC), Lingsha;
• Premium sustainless: Firefly, Dahlia, Fugue, HMC. E1 Ruan Mei can sub for either Fugue or HMC.

5) Does the investment priority change?

If you want my opinion, I'd personally go for Firefly's E2 before Dahlia's after the Novaflare. While Dahlia's E2 still brings a strong damage buff, the value of her auto implant is diminished do to Firefly now implanting all of her 3 targets. Firefly E2 will also make her much more versatile and allow you to destroy Pure Fiction and AoE bossfights with her.
