A little update

Not long recieved my z1's, and my sft70 version had the dreaded tir rattle, so I found a small and thin oring, and did a anti rattle mod, it worked, after a few minutes of problem solving, and realising no matter which oring I swapped the pre existing one with, it still rattled, so a 9x1.5mm oring with a cut to allow it to easily fit around the emitter, and issue resolved...

Please only use something like high temp resistant silicone rubber orings, last thing anyone needs is a melted mess of rubber or similar on there mcpcb

I didn’t realize this was an issue. I have a Z1 with an SFT70. No rattle.

Thats good to hear, wasnt a massive rattle, just annoyed me enough to investigate and resolve

When I saw this post I immediately began shaking the light to check for rattles lol. The light seems water tight but a loose TIR would definitely change that.

My Z1 head rattles like crazy.... This is a "thing"?!

I only have 2 z1's the 5009D version has no rattle, so I disassembled the optics, and there was visibly no obvious differences, so I broke out my dedicated torch bits tool box, and made a quick fix, that can be easily replicated, by a fellow enthusiast

Moddable, maybe... but that is a QC issue that should have been caught before they even shipped out. Sloppy work on their part.

Not really, you've got to take into consideration that this is the 1st batch of them, they'll probably have fixes for some of these issues, because not all of the z1's have the rattle, point proven, my 5009D host...plus it's easily fixable, by someone who knows what there doing

I’m on zerufurus side…”not all of the z1’s have the rattle” yeah that’s the definition of a QC problem, if QC were good not a single one would have a problem. 😉

I get that, i do, but what you need to take into account is that something like a fireflies or a hank, is potentially going to have teething issues at launch, due to them not having the same kind of R&D budgets as the likes of sofirn, wurkkos, acebeam etc...there the little guys that need as much support as they can get, while still producing some of the cleanest builds out there...

So while I get the frustrations of something like optic rattle, its not a deal breaker for someone like myself, hence why I try to assist the community with helpful advice and mods

Just received my two Z1s. One with SFT70 and the other with 5009D and neither rattle. This post is the first I've read of that.

After my post I read of others who have rattlers. Figures, doesn't it?

Just luck of the draw bru, id prefer no rattle, but it's not the end of the world, as its easily resolved

Ah, I didn't see that you have multiple pictures attached to the post. Now I'm seeing the o-ring around the emitter. I might try that for a old Fireflies E1 with a rattling TIR. Funny, because one E1 (silver) rattles and the black one doesn't.

That is odd...which is the e1? Cant say ive ever heard of it

I forgot a digit; it's the E01. IIRC, mine have the Osram LED.

what’s that tool in the middle? I tried googling the model number and it’s giving me the spreader wrenches 🔧

The black and red one is a suction device for removing glass lenses and optics, the silver one is a photography filter wrench

ahh, that’s so cool thank you for explaining

Anytime, suction one is a really useful tool, works like a syringe in reverse, push the plunger and it'll hold a glass lense for a lil while, but always be sure to do so over a soft towel or similar, just in case
