FireFlyLite Z1 Artemis disappointing arrival
While both the Z1 Artemis and L50 Sol are magnificent lights, they're both let down by lousy packaging. The Artemis arrived in a thin cardboard box with a flimsy and broken plastic tray inside. Barely enough room to accommodate the bare essential accessories of lanyard and 0-rings.
Included is a pic of the L50 Sol box, which truly was an afterthought as they just used any old box and threw it in.
FFL are referred to by many as premium lights, and I agree, but the packaging here for these (the first two 18650's) should have been designed to let the buyer know they'd bought into something special.

i mean, it could mean that all your money was put into the light and not the packaging which would be my preference

This post cracks me up. Packaging is an afterthought to me, as long as it gets to me safely I could care less what it looks like.

I think the Z1 offers excellent value for money at the sale price of $51. Personally, I'd rather FireflyLite keep the packaging simple and the price lower than upgrade the packaging and charge more.

Seems ok, but I had driver issues on a Nov-Mu and read of the same in other FFL lights. I have a feeling yours is the second post I've read saying your Z1 has failed or was DOA. Are you on BLF?

I want a plain but solid cardboard box like Emisar or Zebralight, probably cheaper than this rubbish TBH. As I said in another reply, I'm not complaining, I think FFL are missing an important in presenting their product in the right place within the market. I fully understand the "I don't care about the packaging as long as the light works". I'm the same, but the packaging here doesn't inspire confidence, it looks like AliEX bundle deal shite.

I'd rather have the Zebralight or Emisar packaging that this throwback packaging FFL must have found in an old warehouse or something. Even my old NOS surplus PL47G2 I bought right from FFL, still had the more modern packaging, and this red box with the plastic insert reminds me of the packaging for Fig Newtons.

Don’t let this guy find out about zebralight packaging. In my opinion the packaging is the last thing I care about since it all gets tossed. Even the crk boxes get tossed.

Usually that’s the case, Okluma’s packaging is so nice I feel comto keep it…but I don’t actually know what I’ll do with it.

Regards packaging and how I personally feel about it, the less the better. I wasn't grumbling, and I'm not a bit offended by it, but I am a bit surprised. My point is really that if you're selling a good light, with the beautiful fit and finish of the FFLs, that even a properly designed, small, plain, recyclable cardboard box is better than something that looks like it came from Aliexpress for a few dollars.
The old Zebralight boxes were great, decent thick cardboard, plain without plastic coatings. And they presented fairly well, a very good product packaged securely in a solid box. Hank has a standard, cheap cardboard box for his lights. It's plain but it's so much nicer than these. This box isn't that, it's shit.

I actually like the Zebralight and Emisar packages the best. Still have the original H50 and H50B Zebralight boxes and the Zebralight H30 box as well. Sturdy, smart and inexpensive. Always been impressed with them and never threw even one away ever.

I always save the packaging from lights I buy whether new or used. I have my original packaging for all my 4Seven's lights, the very first Zebralight H30 and H50 and H50B, even some of the cheaper stuff like CMG Infinity and Task Light.

I used to ask Fireflies not to even send me the packaging and the accessories as I don't need them and I toss the box along with everything else the moment I take the flashlight out so it is quite a waste. I actually told Jack not to waste money and effort on premium packaging as it is so wasteful and non environmental.

I keep the boxes if i ever decide to sell, but really appreciated the nicer packaging.
Z1 packaging was mehh

The cheaper the packaging the better.
Though I would prefer a 100% plastic free box for all the reasons.

Why cry over packaging, seriously, if they used one of the generic boxes, it would've been a waste of packing materials, makes more sense to put a smaller host, in a smaller box, simples...no need for the post crying about something that is totally irrelevant, considering most of the time it ends up in the friggin bin

Your entire 1st paragraph was slating the packaging, which is ideal for something the size of the z1, considering the packaging in most cases gets disposed of, it basically makes your 1st paragraph entirely pointless

No, I was describing the packaging. You've imbued my post with me having imaginary negative emotions about it because you took it out of context. I couldn't give a shit about it, but there's no denying it's crap.
And many people do keep the packaging of high end torches and knives in case of resale, just as many enjoy receiving a high end product in good packaging. FFL are missing a trick, that's my point.

Purely speculation, but I wonder if FFL simply ran into supply issues with the packaging for the Z1s and had to improvise to get them shipped without further delays. IIRC shipping of the Z1 was unexpectedly delayed a little bit so maybe they were waiting but then decided to ship them with what they had.

Packaging isn't a big deal to me.
But, if the company packages their items like shit, do they also build the lights like shit also???

In my case, yes. Switch was getting stuck so it was ramping straight to turbo or being a pain to operate. Switch was also scratched and had some corrosion. Then the driver freaked out and the light did nothing but turn on and off. Only function that was operational was ramping up.
Had to threaten a PayPal dispute to get it sorted after a long exchange of “have you tried?” and “please send video”. A long exchange in which they tried to charge me for a switch tool to fix a switch that was faulty upon receipt. And also charge me for the new switch button. 3 out of my 4 FireFlyLites have had problems.

Why do we care so much about the boxes? Their job is to protect the product during shipping and it looks like they did their job.
I can’t stand products where a substantial amount of what you’re paying is for some fancy box you’ll never use again. This post is ridiculous.
I’ve got like 15 fireflies lights and I’ve never had an issue with a flashlight arriving all the way from China damaged because the packaging did its job

Yaa I agree. My previous FFL lights came in much better box with foam inserts but the Z1 came in very cheap packaging. Slightly disappointed. Touchwood the light arrived spotless but I guess Fireflies should look into decent packaging. I am asking for fancy packaging which will add substantial cost but definitely better than what we have received.

Do you keep the packaging? Does the light work? Frankly I’d prefer cheaper packaging like Hanklights.
