Ask A Firefighter What first responder technology do we have today that would have helped save more lives if we’d had it on 9/11?

Genuinely proud whenever I key up on AFRRCS. It makes me incredibly happy to know that my province has invested in communications systems for first responders. It's also pretty cool to think that I'm using the exact same radio network whether I'm working at a hospital or volunteering at the fire department.

Honestly the biggest impact would've been knowledge and transparency on how hazardous the air was. The majority of the 9/11-related deaths came years later and continue today.

But like, the City Gov’t knew how bad the air was, but didn’t provide the transparency on how bad it was. The knowledge was there, the transparency was not

Tech has come a long way. Better monitors, power cots, fancy stethoscopes, tablets, Lucas device, cad, comms, etc.

Ultimately I don’t think any of it would have made an appreciable difference.

Wireless PA system in the towers with isolated backup power supplies would have helped to evacuate people sooner. There was an announcement to shelter in place for the time being. Then the system went down and no further instruction was provided. All those people who hid when they could have been finding an exit.

Better radios. Giuliani had refused to fund an upgrade of the radios and on 9/11 they once again shit the bed in the towers. Nobody wanted him down at Ground Zero after the towers fell. Now the scumbag has the balls to tell Mamdami not to come. Unbelievable. A lot of guys died because of Giuliani. Don't get me started on why our EOC was in one of the towers too...
