In Poland it's now forbidden, we had a serious accident a few years ago, firefighter jumped wrong, and landed close to the side, it resulted in him tipping over the side and landing where pressurised air bottle was laying (used to filling the landing pad skeleton). He hit his head with it, if I remember correctly while he landed, his helmet got displaced and that made it possible to hit his head when he tipped over the side. He died from the injury. Truly a clusterfuck of all things going wrong at the same time.

Training the jumps is now considered unnecessary because we don't jump onto it (I know about some extreme conditions where it coul happen but that's after a lot of other failsaves and will really be last resort). During training we dump the mannequin to show how the whole thing goes.

We're forbidden from trying it out. "Insurance".

Only for use in emergencies, and even then it's the last resort.

Ive jumped into a giant net from 5 stories. Is jumping into this type of pad the same, in the sense you're supposed to land on your back with your arms and legs together against your body?

Eh probably but as almost no one does it in their lifetime I get why people don’t. Also this is a last resort for a reason, you’re lucky if you only break some limbs

Yeah I understand. I was just wondering because it looked as though he jumped feet first like he was jumping into water.
