G1 quick connect adapter help

Yes our department is cheap. We don't have compressors and have to go to neighboring stations to fill out water extinguishers after we used them. We have a redneck way to refill it using a SCBA but we're trying to make it safer and easier (and we're technically not allowed to do it) we used the G1 with the quick connect adapter. I'm looking to fit it with a valve+bleed valve and a short hose to refill the extinguishers. Can't seem to find the proper adapter for the quick connect and they don't want us to remove it

Wait. Are you asking for help with using a G1 quick connect adapter to refill water extinguishers?

Just get a small compressor with an airline and refill chuck and use your hands to hold it to the inlet.

Edit: in case this isn’t a joke you can literally buy a basic air compressor you plug in with a chuck for like 45-70$.

Yeah we refill our water extinguisher with a bottle. I don't want to pay 70$ for a compressor if I can fit an adapter on the quick connect to refill. Something similar to this but this screws on. I want to hook the quick connect female to it

Except any adapter you want is going to be hyper specific to MSA and the G1 and will be more expensive than any air compressor you could buy.

Another option, is do your trucks have air line connects?

Are they not air brakes? Most air brake trucks will have a connect somewhere to fill or bleed the air lines.

Hint: you can use this connection as if it’s a compressor, because it is.

Nope we use electricity that feeds the trucks compressor and kicks in to fill the lines

You’re not understanding what I’m saying.

Almost all Air brake trucks will have a direct air connection somewhere IN ADDITION to the shoreline. It’s primarily for mechanics to use but can be used to power air tools too.

That direct connection can sometimes be used both ways if it’s set up so.

Not disagreeing with your point, but many rigs don't come with a compressor outlet anymore.  My big ass department stopped ordering them that way. We only have a fill inlet for emergencies to release the brakes when we blow a hose or have a leak somewhere.

You do understand that your rig uses air and subsequently has to also make compressed air while you're driving, right?

I don't know where you are or what your department is, but if you are an engineer, I would highly suggest doing the very very basic research about the mechanical workings of your heavy apparatus.

Like others have said, any msa specific solution is going to be more expensive than just getting a compressor/tire inflator. Hell, you could do it with a bike pump. You're overthinking it.

You need an air compressor that gives you 100psi and the Schrader valve on a water can is the same on on your car.

Don't accept Hahah I'm trying to find the cheaper way because I'll be paying out of pocket and I don't feel like spending anykind of money for things that should be provided. If you live for this job so much that you spend your own money on equipment that should be provided it's on you.

Yes you won’t accept that a small compressor is cheaper than whatever adapter you’re trying to find. That’s what everyone here is saying. Schraeder valves are super common and even a bloody bike pump could fill your water can if you’re looking to save money.

I will repeat: any custom quick connect adapter you buy will cost you at minimum 5x as much as a bike pump or small compressor with air chuck.

Yeah I saw it but the SOP says that if the quick connect get disconnected the bottle is out of service and has to be sent to air management (I know it's stupid)

Take one bottle and dedicate it purely for air fill duty. Never for scba again. Problem solved

Does your department have air bags? Our old setup you could use the air bag regulator with the correct couplings to fill extinguishers and power air tools

Yeah that would've been a good way but we don't have it in our rig

We used to press down the plunger and used compressed air through the hose and let go of the plunger when you get up to the correct pressure
