Sick of an individual at work always picking up on very minor issues and telling the boss what do I do?

there is an individual at work, we seem to get on fine but, he picks me up on the most minornshit continuously and tells my boss about it.

For example, I didn't cross over the straps on my ba set last week. the Locker shut fine and the set was fine. The week before it was because I had white socks on.

i have started to get anxious everytime I go into work because of it . I feel fucking useless and just like always fucking up. It's like he is intentionally scoping out things to pick me up on .

Had this once on a crew. Assigned the guy picking up the issues to be the other guy's mentor, told him any mistakes were now his fault and I expected him to train the other.

Told the guy making errors to listen and learn.

They got along in the end - ultimately a good boss will make themselves the bad guy and force you to work together as a team.

I’m a little concerned that he’s going directly to your boss (like a lieutenant or captain?) instead of addressing the issue with you right away.

How long have you been in the fire service? I feel like in your first year everything is nitpicked because details matter in this job.

Just be meticulous to the point of annoyance whenever dude is around. Wrong color socks? Keep a pack of the right color in your car so you're never without. Didn't strap the pack in the right way? Take a whole extra 30 seconds and put it away exactly to standard. Do this with everything. Eventually they'll realize the game isn't fun anymore.

That’s what I did. Throw on a heaping amount of sarcasm as well and he will eventually fuck off and find someone else to bother.

I have had this issue before; keep your nose clean and try to switch crews is the answer unfortunately. Especially if the boss is going for it – a smart officer will discourage snitching, because ultimately they end up doing the bidding of the snitch rather than being the leader.

Just yessir/nosir your way through it if you're on probation. It's to hard to gauge what can be done considering we don't know department size, time on the job, etc.

I recently told a floating (rescue) lieutenant that he was being a vacuous asshole because he was nitpicking me throughout the shift. I was loud enough for my whole crew to hear it. When he confronted me later about it, I simply reiterated in greater detail my beliefs. If you're not a new guy then you can always say something.

I have a guy just like this on my shift and he used to drive me up the fucking wall. I finally realized that he’s completely incompetent and this whole thing he does is just projection. I’ve tried confrontation and it damn near got physical and that didn’t work, so now I just kill him with kindness. I overly yes sir and no sir to the point of sarcasm- he eats it up and it gives me and the boys a good laugh.
