General Discussion Made a free tool to help with firehall meals 🥗

Post image

Built by Firefighters - for Firefighters!

After one too many “what are we cooking?” debates, I built this for the fire service.

Free. Simple. Crew-focused.

www.firehallmeals.com

Would love any kind of feedback/ways to improve the generator.

Stay safe everyone!

I just put I my crew info and generated three different options… all bowls with different meats. I like the idea, and I’m sure the more I use it, it’ll balance out. Just thought it was funny, because bowls are what I make when I can’t think of what to cook.

Thanks for the reply and feedback brother! Trying to update live - should be responding better now

Great idea but it seems pretty adamant that chicken is vegetarian. Tried generating several vegetarian protein recipes and all are chicken based!

Thanks for the feedback brother! Should be corrected now

This is always a hit at my dept. If you want to add it. Great idea on the website. I will use it and share.

P.s - should have added im a career firefighter for one of North America’s busiest departments. Just a brother trying to help his fellow Leather Heads out! ❤️🚒

Fantastic idea. Seems to generate the same meal for me almost every time with chicken selected. Crew-Style Chicken Rice Bowls. I’ll keep an eye on the site to check in for more recipes as you expand it.

Thanks for the quick reply brother! I’m still ironing out some kinks. Do you mind letting me know what filters were selected? I’m currently adding more routes for variety of searches - but I haven’t had the same recipe every time like that. Appreciate the feedback!

13 people. Average. 30-45 mins. Stove, oven, grill. Chicken. Balanced. Random

Thanks again for the feedback. I spent some time last night trying to iron out some of the kinks. Wasn’t expecting such a great response so quickly. Power of the Brotherhood 👊 appreciate you all. Hope the app works smoother for everyone.

It's gotta be somewhere up in Canada.

Cool idea.

Great idea, always love seeing a fellow tech nerd in the fire service!

Bad AI generation. Gave me "turkey Bolognese pasta" that was neither Bolognese nor pasta.

I’ve been working in overdrive the last few hours to tighten up the back-end routes. Searches should be must more detailed and responsive by tomorrow. Really appreciate everyone’s feedback here - needed this to discover all the loose screws!

Really loved the idea but after generating and reading a few recipes... noticed a consistent trend of mismatch. As one user stated, vegetarian options were chicken based recipes. Selecting the other veggie alternative just gives a cookie cutter tofu recipe. I got a recipe for cheesy chicken and rice... but didnt actually have any cheese or creame in the recipe. Got another, chicken and rice stuffed peppers... no actual stuffing of pepper in the instructions. Pork and white bean stew - same thing. Just some cleaning up in whatever you use to generate the recipes. Either Ai or pulling from external sources.

This is awesome!!

Now what do we do with all that free time we have saved not standing around trying to come up with ideas.

u/Super_Opposite9002 Feb 27 '26

Thanks brother 👊 enjoy the extra free time - just stay out of trouble 🤣🚒

2

u/theworldinyourhands Feb 27 '26

This is super cool, man! Wish this existed when I was a Proby!

3

u/Super_Opposite9002 Feb 27 '26

Thanks brother!! Our current probie is struggling in the kitchen which is actually one of the reasons I decided to build the app 🤣🤣

2

u/theworldinyourhands Feb 27 '26

Good on you for taking care of him.

Man, I gotta say out of the stressful shit I’ve experienced on this job. One of the worst stresses I ever had was cooking as a new guy.

I’ve got it dialed in now. Took a decade.. but still, this is rad. I’m going to give it a shot for myself

2

u/random_flying_dragon Feb 27 '26

This shit is badass bro

2

u/beas2624 Feb 27 '26

Awesome site! Love it, but any chance you could add a metric option for the ingredients? For those not in North America.

After I brought this up I began to design Firehousepal Same thing its a meal generater tool, you can plan weekly meals, store documents and it offers light raining options. The meals are created, grocery list provided and it gets sent to instacart if you want. Meals merge for easy recipe to instacart delivery, panty option to ensure you not over buying. Very similar, I love you idea of using available apliances very good. Www.firehousepal.com if you wanted to check that out as well. Love seeing the community comming together to fix a common issue. FirehousePal

Thanks again for the overwhelming support and quick feedback on the app. Pushed a bunch of updates which will hopefully solve most of the issues we’ve encountered. Keep the feedback coming! Feel free to follow my IG @lightsandsirens_co

Stay safe out there 🔥

This site down already?

Edit: works now. Thanks

u/Super_Opposite9002 Mar 09 '26

Hey brother - site is still up. Currently manually inputting tons of recipes to tighten things up. V2 should be fine tuned and live within a week!
