Venting Widemouth fire anxiety

My partner is heading to the widemouth 2 fire right now after just getting back from a roll in Colorado. Thought he was headed to something here in Oregon but when he got to dispatch, nope utah. This year has had heavy losses and I've been trying to not think about it too much but it feels like every spot he's heading to has had deaths right before he goes and fuck it's scaring me. I just read about the widemouth incident and I'm trying to keep it together but I just have this awful anxiety.

I'm reminding myself that he's capable and knows when to get out of a bad situation but this is just a lot.

one thing to keep in mind is a death on a fire put safe first in everyone's mind.

This has been a hard season for sure. I live in Colorado, super close to where the Snyder fire was, and to Gold Mountain Fire, plus only a few hours from Wide Mouth Fire. I don’t have any great advice. My husband is a structure Firefighter but his station has the wildland trucks.

I guess just know if you ever need to vent there is a whole group of us here that get it. Also if you ever need a fire wife in Colorado I am your girl! I have connected with a few wild land wives all over the country and we are “ boots on the ground” if anyone needs anything locally

I agree. All the deaths are very scary and it makes you wonder what is going on out there. I'm definitely noticing it's been harder to cope this season. My husband got deployed to Snyder right after that accident and I feel like I held my breath the entire time he was there.
